Disappointed with this...
I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one, Karen. No matter how many people are waiting on surgery every-ones journey is important to them. I think that there is a good chance that Sabrina waited a long time for her surgery and is entitled to vent like the next person. I personally believe that her title was tongue in cheek and that the mention of chicken, tuna etc., was more of a dreaming of food and questioning the difference Optifast and other low carb, high protein foods. Given my interpretation of Sabrina's post, I would have been shocked and disappointed as well with people pretty much telling her that she's doomed if she can't follow through on Optifast. I think it all comes down to everyones interpretation and as I said, I chose to give her the benefit of the doubt and in no shape or form believed she deserved a lecture.
I hated the Optifast stage, but it is a means to an end- and an extremely important one at that. You will get through it. At the time, I struggled getting them down. I tried every concotion I could think of, but the stuff just never agreed with my taste buds. What is good about this stage though, is that it helps you to mentally disconnect from food and regard it at an obligation rather than an obsession. Enjoy the fact that you don;t have to plan out meals, count carbs, calories, protein, sugar, etc... Make up your shake with cold water (skip the add ons), plug your nose and chug-a-lug. Don't belabour the experience. Just get it down and move on with your day till the next one. It is time to divorce food and it will be a while until you can food normally again, so as hard as it may seem, you really just have to put it out of your mind and go through the motions of Optifast. It will be over sooner than you expect and then it will be time for surgery. You are strong enough to do this and you'll do it cause quite simply- you have to.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Haven't read the original post yet, but I will say,
stick to the plan, YOU CAN DO THIS.
I know i was only on it for 2 weeks and i loved it, but i wanted to eat something so bad, i could have chewed a boot. I'm glad i didn't ha ha and soon it was all over and i was post op. it is so worth it,2, 3 or 4 weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of time and you will only ever have to do it once.
I know it's frustrating with the trots and then the constipation and just wanting to chew something or eat anything. It's a means to an end, come on girl, go for it.
Life is awaiting.

well I don't believe I responded because I have never been on that program and wouldn't have had anything valuable to add.
I am sorry you felt you were beingg admonished or criticized
...pick yourself up and go forward and be a stronger person, it will make the difficult road ahead.
one thing I have found during this journey of almost 4 years..is you need to develop a thick skin, throw the negative people to the side and climb on the the victory horse
..if you have set your mind to do this....support is what you need and for the most part I believe that this board and ones like it USUALLY have the persons best interest at heart
on another board my signature line is
advice should be tempered with compassion and maybe some of the respondents forgot that for a moment.
