Gastrograffin swallow, is it really that bad???
I was just going throught the material that my centre gave me and I wonder what the gastrograffin swallow was like. I have heard that it is horrid and really hard to get down. I am just really worried about vomitting and not being able to do it. What was everyone's experience like? I know everyone is different, but just curious.
If that's the test done post-op to check the function of your new innards and for leaks, it was no problem at all. I mean, the stuff doesn't taste fabulous but I have to say, I was so damned thirsty after not being able to drink anything for so long, it was kind of welcomed. lol Don't worry about it. That test is the easy part.

It's interesting because some centers don't require that at all as there are now tests that they can do prior to closing you up to test for leaks.
Hamilton for one, however I had it when my surgery was done almost 1 year ago...
Yes it tastes horrible. Yes it's a slap in the face after not ingesting anything for more than 24 hours and it's the first thing you can taste. But, once again, like Optifast, it's a means to an end and a miniscule portion of the journey. Ask for a mouth swab to get rid of the taste if necessary...plus at that point, you'll be so thirsty anything would be wanting.
