I was just wondering if anyone knows of anything you can apply to them to minimize them. Mine aren't bad at all I just wanted someone's input. I'm kinda proud of them

 Hello,

let me start by saying congrats on your successful surgery, and I am told BIO-OIL is supposed to be great at diminishing the appearance of scars.  I personally haven't tried it but would like to know also.

All the best to you

I used Bio-oil after my gallbladder removal and you can barely find my scars even if your looking for them.  Not sure if its just cause I heal well or the oil but figure it can't hurt.

just massage them with some kind of lotion, couple of times a day. There's no magic potion to make them go away, just massage to increase blood flow.

Hi

I think the magic potion is time, LOL, I had a hys about 20 years ago and the scar is a very faint line

that is really not noticeable, so it depends on how you feel about the scar and how long you are willing
to wait for them to disappear LOL     it also depends on how fast you heal and the condition of

your skin and of course your age LOL

Take care and good luck on the minimizing of the scar

My surgeon told me that there's not really anything that will work but that they fade over time and it usually takes almost two years for a scar to diminish.

Tea tree oil, vitamin E, and cocoa butter. The cocoa butter will also be good for helping skin regain elasticity and fade stretch marks.

It's a myth that vitamin E helps reduce the appearance of scars, it's been proven in studies that it can actually worsen them as its application interferes with the product of collagen and can cause contact dermatitis. So definitely don't use vitamin E.

For best healing, make sure you keep them covered with layered wet and dry compresses until completely healed.

Once totally healed, Mederma, which is based on an extract in onions, may or may not make a difference, different studies have shown different results, but may be worth trying.

If they end up really gruesome, there are always steroid injections, laser treatment, dermabrasion or surgical removal, but I doubt that will be neccesary.

There are silicone scar dressings available that do help a lot. These are the kind of dressings that Plastic Surgeons recommend that you wear after Plastics procedures. I have info on a local supplier for these type of dressing that you usually wear for several months after plastics.
