I'm just wondering if I need to purchase a special seperate machine for it or if my good ol fashioned blender will do the job.

I used my hand blender.  A blender should work fine.

your blender will work fine. Worked when i did it for my babies, worked for me. Just lots of liquid, that's the key.

I'm not going to lie, I just used foods that were already puree consitency. I pureed chili once and it looked like vomit and after that NOOOOO way.
This ricotta bake was a huge lifesaver. Seriously amazing. i used way more mozarella though but I used the 100% skim cheese sticks so I figured I was probably ok.

Just lots of soup, fat free refried beans with cheese, applesause (sugar free), mashed tuna with a bit of mayo (if you like it, I don't) or really any mashed soft cooked fish, soft cheese eaten in small bites and chewed really well, pudding, and still lots and lots of protein drinks and water.

I used a blender and made multiple things at a time and just stuck them in the fridge. I also made protien smoothie popsicles they were really good.
