Can you even stall on optifast?
I was doing so well averaging at 2 lbs a day but now I have only lost 1 stinkin' lb in three days?? I know I retain water a bit but still I thought I'd be to my 280 that the doc wanted and I can't get past  290!!!!
Another weird thing is my damn scales, like this morning it said I was down to 287.. I was like finally three lbs in one day.. that makes up for it but tonight I get on it and it's back up to 290.
It's just so frustrating that I am going through this and watching my family eat such yummy things and it's not showing.. heck I've even been working out every other day at the gym.
So I have one day to go and I've only lost 11 lbs *sigh*

You never weigh the same at night as you do in the morning so stop weighing so many times.  As for how much weight loss you can expect, it's different for everyone.  Perhaps your liver wasn't as fatty as he thought it was.  When was the last time you lost 11 lbs this fast? Just finish up your shakes and stop fretting over hitting 280, you'll get there when you get there.

Well the fretting is cuz I'm afraid he will refuse to do my surgery.. he said he wanted me at 280 and I'm not. My hubby told me to stop weighing myself all the time too LOL

He won't deny you surgery.  If he was adamant you hit a specific weight, you'd have been on Opti a lot longer.

But the point of optifast is to shrink your liver not lose weight.

Tracey is right, you should lay off weighing yourself frequently. I know, easier said than done.  When I did Opti, I did not weigh at home.  Only at the Clinic.  After week 1, I was down 17 lbs and was stoked.  I expected to be 30lbs down by week 2.  Not!  Only 5 more in the second week.  Lesson learned, don't beat yourself up or get disheartened.  You will lose as your body is able.  It's a marathon, not a sprint!
Good luck, stick to it.

Some people lose lots of weight on OF, others not so much.  Don't worry about it.  I've never heard of anyone being refused surgery based on not losing a certain amount of weight on OF.  And... stalls happen all the time.  I was told by some very knowledgable vets that it's not actually a stall unless it lasts a few weeks and that, even then, if you keep doing what you're supposed to, the weight will start to fall off again.  Just a thought as you head toward the bench...

I think you're having a bit of pre-surgery panic.  Completely normal!  Hang in there, it will all be ok!  Sending you good thoughts...

do these SIX steps.
1. put the scale away.
2. remember the purpose of optifast is not to lose weight, but to get the fat off your liver (no, there's no magic ingredient in optifast, its just a high protein, low carb intake that does the trick to your liver.)
3. Put your scale AWAY.
4. AWAY
5. I MEAN IT. AWAY.
6. AWAY.

you'll drive yourself nuts getting on yoru scale multiple times a day.

Alway weigh yourself the same time of day. Remember the purpose of Opti is to shrink your liver. Not everyone loses the same. 11 lbs is wonderful. Good luck on for surgery.

So how does OF work at shrinking your liver fat then? I assumed it was a such a low calorie meal replacement that it just caused you to lose weight and therefore lose some on your liver.. how can it target only your liver fat?
Some clinics don't even use OF but just a liquid diet so it can't just be something in the OF that does the trick if they don't even use it.
I just thought the rapid weight loss from having such a limited diet was what was wanted and would get rid of fat and hopefully some of that would be from the liver.. certainly I didn't have twelve lbs of fat on my liver LOL

My surgeon never actually said he wanted me to lose 20 lbs with OF what he said  was that in the two months I'm waiting for surgery on the food plan the dietician suggested along with the OF he would like to see me at  280.. well I only lost a couple lbs before the Opti so I was counting on the OF along with working out to bring me to the 20 lb loss... I hope everything is ok and I don't wake up with the realization I had to have an open surgery cuz of it.
Thanks for all the comments I def will not be on the scale so much post op and the doing it at the same time is a good tip.
