Question for the bakers out there
Hi all,
Question for ya's, my fiance loves to bake, and wants to bake stuff that's bariatric friendly, and I was wondering, what kind of chocolte chips are ok to use in recipes? He makes wicked peanut butter cookies (with splenda of course), and would like to try it with chocolate chips (or something similar)
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jules

If you go into the States at all Walmart carries Hersey Sugar Free Chocolate Chips.
Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I am in insulin dependant diabetic and I was told to use carib chips. You can get them at a bulk food store. Here is the nutritional information. I see a 1 cup serving is high in fat, but you wouldn't be eating a cup at a time.

Yes carob has 72 grs of sugar in them but that is if you eat a whole cup. I assume that a cup goes in one batch of cookies and then you make the cookies small and make 36 of them. That is 2 grams of carbs from carob. Which is not bad.
The other suggestion is look for chocolate with a high cacao content, they usually have a lot less sugar but each brand is different. I know Lindt 90% is pretty low in carbs and I used to use it to make chocolate peanut butter balls (high protien) with it. You might even do well with putting a small chuck of this choclate on the top of each cookie as it comes out of the oven. It would melt and cover the top of the cookie. Sounds yummy!
Good luck
