So, I want to make a soup and it says "1/3c dry white wine"
I don't really want to use wine- buy a bottle just for that little amount- not my thing.

What else can I use instead of the wine or do they make tiny bottles so it's not such a waste??

You can use broth if you want.  I have a recipe that calls for a whole bottle of white wine and I often don't have a full bottle so I use what I do have and then use broth for the rest.  If you think you may end up making the recipe again, I'd buy a bottle of any of the Ontario wines that are dry (and cheap to boot) and then use what you need and keep the rest in the fridge for the next time.  Broth won't give you quite the same taste but it isn't too bad.

By the cash register at the liquor store they have mini bottles of various liquors. They often have a basic red and basic white that is about 200ml for around $4 (like the minis on an airplane), so one of those might do.

I'd suggest broth. Or open the bottle and send the rest to me.

Or buy a small bottle and freeze the excess wine in an ice cube tray and keep it in a ziploc in the freezer for the next recipe!

Wine will freeze because it's not a high enough alcohol content to keep it liquid.  Freezing wine actually makes the wine lose some acidity.  Most recipes call for wine for their acidity so for me, I'd not freeze it.

I got the smallest bottle of wine from the LCBO $3.45 :D It will be perfect for 2 recipes

Thank you for the suggestions and I think I will try the grape and apple juice for substitutions as well in the future
