Met Dr. Glazer the internist-went all down hill after that
Now the frustrating part. Dr. Glazer said to stop all my birthcontrol a month before surgery (I was on the pill and have an appointment March 29th to see my GP and switch to depo shot) . I am also not to get the shot before and at least a month after surgery.
So, when do I stop my pill? I was told that Dr. Klein's office would call in 2 weeks to book an appointment to see him again, and some people have surgery within the 2 weeks of seeing him (or so I thought). I called the office, was put on hold immediatley and when I asked my question after she came back, she laughed at me. She said "we're not booking until May or June, yes at least June so you have plenty of time." It was another one of those don't call us, we'll call you moments. Forgive me for being gun shy when my file has been lost twice now.
WTF !!! When I transferred from Ottawa to HRH they said " you should have your surgery Jan, Feb or March at the latest"... Some big mistake there. I have no complications and I passed every meeting. Work is breathing down my neck to find out when my surgery is. I had originally thought April after meeting the surgeon the first time....but June!!
I know we are lucky to have such quick surgery here in Ontario, but my original referral was Sept 2010. ARrrrggghhhhh.
Thanks for letting me rant, rave **** and moan.
Why not just go off it now? Just use an alternate method of BC.

Honestly, I don't think Ottawa should've given you a timeframe. The MIS Group does a lot of different surgeries not just WLS. Emergency cases will always trump other surgeries.
I know it's tough to wait but it'll happen. You're close. All you need is that surgery date.

A good anology would be since seatbelts and airbags reduce the risk of significant injury in front end collisions I am going o drive my car into a brick wall at 40KPH. Just because you have some coverage against the risk does not mean you continue with that whi*****reases the risk.

I too saw Dr. Glazer, and was told to go off my BCP because the pouch will no longer absorb the medication properly. If you don't have a problem going off it for more than a month, I would suggest you do it now rather than wait and worry...just use a back up method!
It will go quickly, don't worry! The wait is soooo worth it!!!
It's too bad the man's birth control pill has just entered the human trial phase.
