Careful use of condoms with spermicide will give you very reliable birth control. Their "bad stats" mainly come from the inexperienced using them inappropriate ly. (e.g. Not squeezing the tip to remove air as you "apply", leaving them on and inside the woman after sex until the penis becomes flaccid etc.).
I am a "fertile myrtle" and got pregnant both times on my first attempt. But both were totally planned. The rest of my life until my husbands vasectomy we used condoms due to my inability to take hormones. Never had an "oopsy".
Id just switch to condoms now. After surgery you can get the mirena IUD. Our surgeon told us no BC pills post surgery because they don't absorb correctly and many get pregnant.
Or get your partner fixed. That works great!! ;0)
