Two week no loss.. what is going on? 8 weeks out.

Had my surgery on Feb. 2 and since the start of Optifast lost 50+ lbs... but in the past two weeks I have lost nothing and I don't know why.  I am eating every 4 hours,  1/4 to 1/2c meals, very little fat, low carb and alway****ting 60 to 80g of protein.  Been walking 5k every second day and doing 2.5k on the other days.  And lots of water.. 2L a day easy.

Is this a stall?  Do you normally stall after only 7-8 weeks?  I have only been on the scale once a week but this is really getting me down and making me feel like I have already failed.  I was so stoked to when the weight was coming off so fast and now I am so fustrated that the urges to eat something bad are getting to me but I have been able to fight them off... I am still strong.

But I don't know what to do anymore to get the weight loss started again.

Someone please make me feel better.

One of the hardest parts of this journey is accepting that weight doesn't come off steadily and readily.  Your body has to play catch-up with what you're doing, and it's normal to go weeks without a loss, or with very little loss.  I, myself, have just broken out of about 10 weeks of very slow loss.  Its enough to drive a person crazy!!  But this is normal.  Once your body figures out that its not starving, you'll start to drop again, and probaby with a larger chunk than normal.  As hard as it is to accept, what's happening to you is normal.  You haven't finished losing, this isn't all you're going to get (even though you can't help but wonder that), you just have to keep doing the job at your end, and your body will adjust when it's darn good and ready.  Hang tough and never give up.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I agree with what Megan said-dont get discouraged, the weight did not get where it is in 8 weeks it will take longer than 8 weeks to get rid of it.  If you keep up the behaviour then eventually your body will catch up.

Thanks very much for the encouragement.  I guess you see it coming off so fast at first, 20 lbs just from Optifast and no exercise, and you expect it to keep coming off that fast.  They need to teach more about this stuff in the classes.

When you have tried so many diets and always failed, it puts that into your head when it stops coming off the way you want it.  Everyone is proud of how far I have come in 8 weeks, I guess I have to try to be proud of myself too.

I was the same way. The scale is finally moving in a nice manner. Infact it went down four pounds in five days.  Just be patient. Remember is better  for your body to lose slowly. Less of a shock.

Thanks so much for that post.    Really helped me understand what is happening.  Like I said, I wish at the classes they would teach more about this stuff and what to expect.

All I can say is that I hope my body gets to eating some fat soon, but if not.. I can out last it.

Hang in there the scale will move again. Hit my first stall at just 2 weeks out. Have had a few stalls since and have been in one again for the past 2 weeks. Try taking your measurements. You will find that the inches are coming off even if the scale doesn't move.
