5 weeks out, so many NSVs!
I have had some really challenging times since my surgery with a head cold, strep throat, and now an absessed tooth (root canal Friday, hooray!) but this last week and half I have seen some incredible progress that reminds me all of the challenges that come with surgery are entirely worth it.
Firstly, I put on a pair of jeans I haven't worn in five years. I wasn't even expecting them to fit and they did and I nearly cried.
Then last week was my one month update. I hadn't been weighed since my surgery so I really had no idea what to expect. The nurse looked at the scale, didn't believe the number and made me get off to recalibrate it. I lost 28 lbs in the first four weeks! 54 lbs since my referral and ten inches from my waist. I started at 343 and I'm at 291. I was so stunned! I've been following the plan to the tiniest detail and it has completely paid off.
Yesterday, I rode my bike for the first time in about four years and the back tire stayed inflated! My soon to be four year old niece is getting a bike for her birthday on Wednesday and I can't wait to go for a ride with her. Being able to do more physical things with her was one of my reasons for having this surgery and I can hardly believe my dreams are coming true already!
This is far from a miracle cure; it takes so much work and effort and dilligence, but with the rewards that come along it really feels like magic sometimes.
Thank you for listening!
