Nurse's Appt Ottawa
RNY on 08/03/12
It's Monday and I may be whiny. You have been warned :)
I went to my second appointment since July, this morning. I was late on the bus but I did call to let them know, I go there and waited for the nurse, got in and my chart was wrong so there was a kerfuffle and more time passed.
I saw Vanessa, who seemed unfriendly. I don't like hospitals as a rule, but a little eye contact and a smile when I made a joke would have been nice. She said I won't see her again until after the surgery.
She is sending me for a stress test, an ultra sound and a scope. I have a behavioural and nutritionist appoinment on 14 May. I do have to get Kingston General to send me some blood work stuff I had done over 13 years ago, or I won't go forward (says Vanessa). Not happy about that last part, as how much that is going to cost me is yet to be known.

Don't take Vanessa to heart, shes a pain in the ass. I'm sure if she smiled her face would cave in.
I have an appointment next week with her and I dread it.
To here credit though she really knows her stuff....take her with a grain of salt. At best you only have to tolerate her for 15 minutes every three months post op.

Oh I'm so sorry you morning went that way. I saw Vanessa as well this morning, and agreed....there is no warm and fuzzies coming from her, no smile or eye contact. But whatever, she is a stepping stone in the process.
It will get better!! Everything is just a stepping stone to the prize!!! We are all behind you!!1

I was told by a Toronto Hospital that if your GP requested the files from the hospital there is no charge.....might be worth while checking it out.
If you as a patient request it its $30 for the first 20 pages and the .5 a page after that.

Oh thank you thank you thank you, Someone else said it....I felt exactly the same way when I walked out of there too. No smile no emotion!!
And because my blood pressure was up (hello its my first appointment!!!) she wanted me to see my GP to be put on meds for it...My GP said absolutely not due to one extremely high reading lol...
But the advise I got was the same just take her as she comes and do as asked to get moving on through. And I am pretty sure your GP can request the paperwork for you.
Good Luck!!

Thanks everyone.
The bloodwork is because my family has a history of strokes and heart attacks. Back in the day I had a GP *****fused to renew my birth control because of this, and insisted I have this work up done to 'prove' that I was no more likely of dropping dead from a stroke while on bc, then any one else. I had been on the pill 7 years at that time.
Anyhoo, I may ask my GP to do this, but then again I'm not adverse to paying the money to have an actual copy for myself. I emailed them to get an estimate on the overall cost (thanks for that Beverleymcl) and now they want me to call. So much to do to make sure the ball keeps rolling :)
