Hi there,
Since surgery, my weight loss has been slow. I lost 21 lbs on Optifast (with lots of working out).  Since surgery 3 weeks ago today I have lost 10.2 lbs.   I have lost 1.6lbs in the last week. I wonder if you vetrans think I'm eating not enough, too much ? Tips. I am drinking 1300-1600mls plain water each day depending on how active I am. I can drink water fairly normal but also sip all day, except for 30min after eating.  I am still on puree until June 6th. Everything except the eggs and melba toast is run through the magic bullet to puree.

Here's today's meals
0623 Prevacid
0655 1/2 cup egg whites 12g Protein, 60 cal
0745 Calcium 1000mg D3 1000iu
1000 Isoflex chiller protein drink in peach 27g Protein 120 cal 3g carbs
1045 Multivitamin
1200 1/2 cup immitation crab 7g Protein, 80 cal, 14g carbs + 4 ww melba 2g Protein, 60 cal, 13g carbs,+  1/2 green onion, + 2 tbs 95% ff philly cream cheese 2g Protein, 40 cal, 2g carbs, 1g fat
1300 Calcium 1000mg D3 1000iu
1500 Multivitamin
1700 BBQ pork 19.7 g protein, 175.3 cal, 11.5g carbs, 5.3g fat + 2tbs sweet potatoe 0.2g protein, 15.3 cal, 3.5g carbs + 2tbs broccoli/cauliflower green giant with cheese sauce 0.3g protein, 10 cal, 2 g carbs, 0.2g fat
2145 Isoflex chiller protein drink in peach 27g Protein 120 cal 3g carbs
2240 Calcium 1000mg D3 1000iu

Grand Total for today
96.8 g Protein, 657.7 cal, 47.1g carbs, 6.8g fat

Today was the first time I tried the immitation crab. Usually I have chicken, and this puts my protein around 80g a day. Today is my lowest in a while.
I was planning on having another protein shake tonight after I walk. I'm walking around 6km/day.

What do you think? Do I need to eat more? less?
(edited to finish off the day's meals)

Wow are you organized!! Calorie wise it doesn't seem like much. But sounds like enough phone spelled out like that lol.
You are doing great!! And don't forget most people slow down or pause around 3 weeks out.

I'm no expert but looks good to me. I'm almost three months out and eating between 600-800 cal per day. Hard as it is, I think you just have to be patient. The weight will come off.

Overall, it looks pretty good Heather, but, I would say your carbs are a little high at around 50.  Many people have a different school of thought on this, including your centre, but I know that myself and several others on here owe our success to eating very low carb, I'm talking 30 or less a day.  I wasn't allowed any form of white carb (crackers, bread, rice, pasta****il I hit goal, or close to it as there is really nothing good for you in it.  There are enough carbs in veggies which I went to right after my protein, to give whatever quantity of carbs the body needs.  I was surprised at how many carbs were in the immitation crab!

Just my humble opinion!

Wishing you the best!

Hi and thanks for the replies Brenda, Andrea and Sandy.
I'll just keep on going. Something's gotta give. I think part of it is the nasty old subconscious saying that you've failed on all the other diets, this lifestyle change won't work either.

I'm going to stay away from the fake crab meat since it is so high in carbs. The pureed chicken breast salad tasted better anyways. I'm not planning on giving up the whole wheat melba yet. They have fibre and protein. lol

Time for my walk. Keeping on, keepin on. Should have taken my measurements. Will do that tonight.

Thanks for the encouragement Blu-Diva. I have had a lot of lessons in patience while waiting for this.

Hiya Heather.

I think that for the amount of food you are able to consume, it is not enough for the amount of exercise that you are doing.  You may be putting yourself in starvation mode.  Then your body will hold onto any and all calories cuz the faminie has arrived!

Another thing to keep in mind is that with the calcium, your body can only absorb a certain amount at each time.

My post-surgery bible indicates, ''Take 1 dose (500-600 mg of calcium) three times throughout the day - separate doses by 2 hours (usually lunch, afternoon, supper).''

Good job on being so organized.

Hi Judy,
I was wondering if that might be happening. I don't have any light headedness so that's why I thought I'd ask people who have "been there and done that".

I updated the post to include the last protein shake and the last calcium. It's liquid calcium from Costco. I've got some delightful chocolate and lemon chews for when I get out of the puree phase that are 500mg of calcium each. I look forward to the treat.

It's a good thing to point out. Thanks and thanks for the compliment. I journal everything and color code. lol My journal is what keeps me organized. Then the measuring tools and digital scale in the kitchen.

10 lbs in three weeks is just fine. Organized is good, but don't become obsessive about the scale and the journaling either. It can become a cross- addiction! Lol
