Matthew McConaughey suffered through "manscaping" session for role in stripper flick Magic Mike

Matthew McConaughey says he was brought to tears by the pain he suffered to look good in the upcoming male stripper drama Magic Mike.

The Huffington Post reports that in order to get the smooth-bodied look favoured by most male exotic dancers, McConaughey got his body waxed – something he says he'll never do again.

McConaughey reportedly tells TV talk show host Jay Leno that he and co-stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and Adam Rodriguez all underwent the same terrible treatment to look their best on the big screen.

"Everybody got manscaped to some extent," McConaughey says. "If you don't have to do it, don't ever do this."

The buff 42-year-old Hollywood hunk says he never anticipated how much the procedure would hurt.

"It was like 7:30 in the morning, I go down there, we're in Hollywood, and I go to this little place in the strip mall," he says. "And the place is called Smile. There's this Russian woman in there, and she's just as formal as you could be. 'In the back, clothes off, lay down, turn over.'

"She's pouring this glue and stuff all over you and you're sitting there and you're giggling and all the sudden she lays something on you and just (rips) and it hurts. It does hurt! And the thing is after every time she waxed off whatever hair she's pulling, she says, 'So sorry, so sorry, so sorry.' So you just giggle through the tears and hope you only got to do it once."

Fans can decide for themselves if McConaughey's torture session was worth it when Magic Mike struts into theatres everywhere June 29.
