Ok- this walking at my lunch hour thing is great and I feel like I am acctually doing something right--- however my 5 year old sneakers are rebelling against me.

I was able to ignore the pain and continue to finish my walk today but am left with one nasty blister.

Which shoes do you guys call your favorites, what do yall recommend??

thanks! :)

New Balance. I once had a physiotherapist tell me that new balance were the best support for bigger people.

New Balance are great, and Asics are too.  Asics has some very good cross trainers so they are comfie for walking and will take you towards running as you trim down.  I have been walking 4 to 6 kms a day for the last few years and I need to replce my sneakers every six monthes or so, the spring disappears and they begin to age rapidly, very bad for your feet then, esp when I was 75 pounds heavier! Good shopping!  Ian

I'm a Nike girl but if your shoes are 5 years old that is likely the problem.  I was told to never keep runners for longer than 6 months or your feet will suffer.

I just bought a pair of Saucony Cohesion 5 and I really like them. Try on some Under Armour as well. I was really torn because I liked them a lot. In the end the Sauconys won out becasue they were on sale.

I love my Sketchers ... when I'm in Toronto I plan on going to Eatons to buy a few more pair

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

I'm big into new balance but the main thing is that you get properly fitted.

i'm also a nike girl!, the walking shoe is very good support especially for walking. it's worth your feet to change your shoes every six months. if you get them on sale, buy 2! eventually you can up grade to a cross trainer!
