OT - Last day of work
So....today is my last day of work...
Surprisingly, the thing I am most upset about (other than the potential financial downward spiral I may be sliding into) is my lunchtime run!! I was just getting into a really good routine with a nice 8km path through the woods!! The fall colours are so lovely and all....
So now what am I gonna do?
I am a little bit concerned that being a SAHM is not going to be good for me. I am worried that I may get lazy and the kids will come home at 3pm to find me laying on the couch still in my pyjamas!!
I mean, I have lots of plans for house cleaning (oh to have a clean bathroom again and my bed made every day instead of my Honey's version of it!!) So I am sure I will be busy....especially since he is gone to work all day...just wondering how other stay-at-home moms manage to keep yourselves motivated? Here at work, I work it into my day because my day is sturctured and I can do that....but when I'll be at home....the structure isnt there. I will have to build it I guess.
So really there is no question in this post, I just wanted to relieve some of my anxiety and panic about the HUGE change in my life. I have basically worked for 30 years and am now faced with....nothing but myself.
Scary

I've been at home for 11 years now and even though I was working from home for many of those years, I still created structure in my day. If you want to run at lunchtime then you can do it at home at the same time that you used to run when working. I have a set time for exercise and that hour every day is just for that. You learn to make appointments with yourself and they eventually just become habit.

Hi Jennifer, I understand I worried about the same things when I retired. The best thing I did for myself was join a gym. Hubby and I get early have a quick breakfast and go to the gym. I do an aquafit class. Once I come home I am envigorated and ready to start some house work or a project.
It worked for me.
It worked for me.
thansk Debra- joining a gym is not an option at the moment seeing as how my Honey only starting working this week after being laid off in August...and I wont be getting any income for a while yet. I am hoping to start my day with a run as soon as the kids leave though so hopefully that will kick my routine off to a good start!

I worked all of my life up until I was 42.
I left my job because I was commuting an hour on the highway and I had to start doing 12 hr night shifts.
After one shift and almost falling asleep at the wheel my husband and I decided it just wasn't worth it.
I felt guilty at first and thought "am I lazy?" but to be honest...I love it now! We watch our budget a little more, but it's worth it.
I'm the "Household Management Specialist". I get up in the mornings make breakfast and my husband leaves with hot tea and lunch every day. He comes home to cooked meals and has less work to do around the home and garden. He loves it.
I don't feel like "lesser of a person" or a housemaid. I quite enjoy my gardening and afternoon time in the hot tub! lol! Life is good!
Having kids you will have lots to keep you busy.
To keep motivated, my advice is to have a routine. Structure your time like a job.
(It also helps to have a supportive partner who tells you he appreciates what you do!!!)
