I have this currently right beside me and my advice is....don't drink it without deluding it with water first!  The frirst time I had it I didn't add water and wow it burned my throat like crazy!  Turned me off from it until I started adding water, now it not as bad (to me, not that great but not terrible either...) It tastes like a chalky orange creamsicle, well sort of... oh and store it in the fridge, (tastes better colder).

FYI:  Medicinal Ingreadients:

LACTOSE FREE

Each tablespoon contains (15 ml serving):

Calcium Citrate, calcium phosphate tribasic.....500mg
Phosphorus (calcium phosphate tribasic.....100mg
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) .....12.5 mcg / 500 IU

Non medicinal ingredients:  (for those of you that have to avoid certian things)

Purified water, vegetable glycerin, inulin, maltodextrin, natural vanilla extract, citric acid, natural orange extract, xanthan gum, cellulose gum, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, natural colours, sucralose, natural lime flavour.

*Remember do not take Iron and calcuim together (wait a few hours) as the iron will cancell out the calcium, and also i have heard that we will not absorb a large dose of calcium so split the dosages up (it comes with a measuring cup of max. 2 tablespoons and that is the recommended dosage) 1 tablespoon in the morning (not with other vitamims) and one at night.

Hope this helps!

So, would someone getting VSG also require the Calcium Citrate rather than the Carbonate?  I need to get shopping!!!
BTW Aquaholic - I called the surgeon today - date for surgery is January 8th....which is hilarious to me - I'm thinking I probably could have called a few weeks ago and gotten a sooner date since I don't think? they had my file sitting there waiting to call me....interesting....I think I could have almost told her anything about myself - she didn't seem to know much, and asked me no questions except type of surgery...lol

January 8th, 2013 - VSG with Dr Paul Sullivan (St Joe's Toronto)

They were actually calling around today... Booking January. You never know... LOL! It probably was in the stack on her desk.

Ok... I was told (because I knew yesterday I ma a VSGer to be) B12 is VERY important for a VSGer,  as is Multi-Vitamin, Calcium Citrate beyond a muti-vitamin & Iron will be if there is a problem. Now... That is what I was told because I consume Dairy. Call the Dietician... they gave me a card when I saw them and said call any time.

I also asked about when to start Vitamins... Now or post op. I was told it is my choice as long as my blood work is in line pre-op.

If you don't like sweet things, you won't like the wellesse clacium.  But I love it, it taste like melted creamcicles, yummm yummm.

I am so thankful that I dump on sugar!!!  I haven't craved any sweets, because I think of the reaction I had to McD's ice cream cone early out, and go now way. lol

Thanks for letting us know about the sale.

They gave me liquid calcium in the hospital and I immediately felt nauseaus.  No liquid calcium for me.  It happened with both servings on day 1 and day 2 post-op.  YUCK.
