OK...now it is one week from orientation!!
My last post was a miscalculated, over-excited, time frame...a bit too anxious, perhaps??? LOL I am still trying to find a way to get to the doctor's office to pick up my results, I live in the east end, I work in the south end, doc's office is in the west end...sigh...lots of construction all around too! I am aiming to get there tomorrow at my lunch hour, cross your fingers I can make it there! This way I have a copy of everything and if the clinic didn't get everything, I'll be more than happy to oblige!!
I am thinking of discussing the WLS with my employer after the session, just to make sure I have all the information necessary if they throw any questions at me. My mom, brother and bffs know, some family members may have been told, but not sure if they'd remember. But, needless to say, I have a great support system. I think my brother may be a bit worried or as others mention, he may be of the "you're taking the easy way"....he's a phys-ed teacher so who knows, he's not one to really talk too much anyway. I firmly believe he'll support me, especially if I need help with the kids. We weren't close growing up but after the last 6 years and everything we've been through, we have come to rely on each other.
Anyway, pretty excited!!

Hi there. I know it is exciting and you would know your employer better than anyone, but you might want to think whether it is premature to inform the employer you are thinking of going this route until you get much closer. I would worry whether you get passed up for something because they are thinking " well you might not be around when they need you" or some kind of mentality like that. I work for a great company but my place is a large corporation and I would not go there until I had a firm date or at least met the surgeon.
Employers are funny some times so you have to do what you need to do to protect yourself. Your family and friends are a huge support system and that is wonderful. I am not sure whether employers are really support systems per se. Don't forget they are concerned about their business... and not your business. I have a couple people at work that know I am going through this and I trust them and they are supportive but I wouldn't tell my boss (and I have a great respect for him****il closer to the date.
Food for thought....

I work in a small office. My employers have been very understanding in the three years I have been here so far. My life has had some major changes and they've been very supportive. But as you've mentioned this is a business. I am not planning on taking too much time off, I have heard from one extreme to another. Some people are able to be back to work in a week, some may take months, depending on their activity at work. I mainly sit at my desk, the ladies' room is within 5 feet from my desk so am hoping I am one of the lucky ones to be back after a week??? is that feasible?
