Moderating... I'm a little confused.

So, one of my posts (well, a reply to a post) got moderated and I don't know why.

The original poster asked if there were others from Northern Ontario. I am, so I posted as such and included the name of my town. Is including the name of my town off-limits? That would seem strange since it's written right next to my avatar for the whole world to see, anyway.

... Oh, I did say there were others on OH who lived in Thunder Bay - again, not secret information.

What did I do wrong? Who do I ask??

I think sometimes you can get moderated for no earthly reason......likely someone complained about something by using the "report"button......

 

OH has really changed the past 6 - 8 months.....not sure if it was because problems on the Main Board or what.....and I am not sure if it made the site better....softer....but perhaps some info is now "moderated" because someone doesn't like the tone or what is being said

 

I have been on this site for over 4 years.......I think I was moderated once......and I likely deserved it.......but this happened about 3 months ago and it wasn't because I used foul language or jumped down someones throat....( I think anyway)....but it pissed someone off and my post was left but the moderator left a message on the thread.....so I assume it was for me but I never received a notice...

 

So - try not to worry about it too much....I think the mods err on the side of caution.....but it can be a real turn off eh?.....

That 'report' button is right on the middle of my phone and Kobo screen when I swipe to scroll. Maybe someone tapped it by accident. I know I have come close a couple of times.

Selling items for $ is the only other reason I have heard of other than what the other posters have mentioned.

I just checked my replies in that thread and they were removed as well.  I think OH pulled the whole thread.  I didn't get an email from them saying they removed them but they are definitely showing in my latests posts as moderated.  I think someone after us posted a link to a Facebook group and you are not allowed to advertise groups outside of OH so that would be my guess as to why our replies got nuked.

Ahh... that makes more sense now. I was so confused. LOL!

Maybe they think you're doing too much mileage for the CTCC and they want you to slow the bejesus down!    (or switch teams to "Your Pace or Mine")

I just looked where the "quote" button was.... right next to "report"

but then again

it could be "F" all of the above

Even if you hit report in error OH still looks at it before they remove anything.  It was definitely the link to facebook that got it yanked.  

I agree that it was the link to another site.  I've been surprised to see some threads  not pulled when someone has encouraged others to join their site, not because I think there is anything wrong with it, but because I think its against OH's terms of service.
