Close by after surgery?

For those of you who don't live close to the hospital...did you stay at a hotel close by for a week following your surgery or go home?

I live about 2 1/2 hours from Humber, and am trying to figure out what to do after my surgery in 2 weeks.  I have friends about 2 hours away...iwondering if this would be close enough!?

I live just shy of 2 hours away and came home after my hospital stay. I think if the clinic hasn't advised you to then it's optional and up to you and what you feel more comfortable with?

My husband and I stayed at a hotel for 2 nights after discharge from hospital and then I was sure i felt good we went home.  

Is it close enough if you're in severe pain? hmm... Ask.. when in doubt.. Ask

I stayed with family for 2 days after discharge. Then I went back home to London. I was at HRRH too.

You usually have a 7 day follow up at the centre, that can be a pain if you leave town. I drove myself home 6 days after surgery, but I stayed in Ottawa (I live in Kingston) for 4 days after the operation.

I am about 1 and 1/2 hrs from the hospital.  I plan to stay for at least one night in a hotel in the area after discharge.  I have children, so coming straight home would likely be more difficult.
