Interesting conundrum - what to eat at a vegan party
I'm going to a little party/get together tonight. On the menu? A light vegan spread. And I'm assuming since they're serving vegan stuff that the usual coping strategy of bringing a platter of stuff I can eat, with meaty or cheesy stuff on it, might not be overly welcome.
I'm having a protein shake before I leave, so I'm preparing that way so I won't get hungry while I'm there. But just curious what you think I might be able to have while I'm there. Luckily it's kind of a buffet/****tail thing where you wander to the buffet, pick at this and that and bring it around with you or sit on a couch with it, so at least we won't be sitting down and eating.
I've been getting all my protein so far from animal sources since surgery, and I'm in the soft food stage, so I can't eat the raw salad. I think the main protein choice is lentil patties. The main dish is a pasta dish, so that's out. Then there are salads, which are out for now (I could try it, but I don't want to take any chances at a party).
So, lentil patties...just checking MFP and they have a bunch of listings for lentil patties, and depending on how they're made, some have tons of carbs and low fat, others have low carbs and tons of fat, others have lots of fat AND lots of carbs...
I'm thinking maybe a glass of water. ;) And maybe I'll be lucky and there will be some kind of tofu thing there.
I should have asked the hosts a lot sooner than this, but it didn't occur to me that they'd be serving vegan everything, since most of the people going aren't vegan and neither are the hosts! (Although, strangely enough, we're also all bringing cookies with us, and there was no stipulation that those be vegan.)
I think I'll also bring a babybel cheese with me as well!

Surprisingly, no hummus either - although that probably would have been a good idea for ME to bring, since it's vegan!

Hahaha! No chance of that happening (me blocking you) - you're too entertaining! The veggies were raw, so no go! Maybe a little later in my soft food stage, too early in it now... :)
