Pregnancy and St. Joe's Hamilton- anyone?

Hi all,

I will also be posting this on Pregnancy board (Where I have been lurking) but I was looking if anyone had experience specifically with the St. Joe's Hamilton Clinic if they were preggers before the "18month" guideline.

I'm 8 months out and My family doc is giving me her  blessing "when I reach goal" which is like in a couple weeks and I'm having IUD out but that'll still need healing time for lining. So we will use condoms still.

Recommendations are just that - I just want to know I'm not committing a crime against nature by following my own heart, life plan (we plan to move provinces w/in year so the thinking is that I can go through this with my own clinic and doctor for first baby at least)

Just curious if anyone has any experiences w/ reactions in Hamilton (and every clinic has different guidelines so it can't be wrong I figure)

Thanks,

Kelsey

i think the risk is that you need to be able to absorb enough nurtients to  to feed you and the baby... pregnancy after wls is high risk ....however there are people who have healthy babies within the first 18 months all the time... good luck with your decision.

I would wait as long as possible. You might be close to goal, but still malabsorbing. Your baby needs food. That is why the 18 month wait, most people are done malabsorbing by then. There are people out there who have had healthy babies before 18 months, but I do know of several who have had serious complications. Low birth weight, and preemies. IMHO, If you can wait, wait.

Thank you for the replies! I definetly think we r gonna stuck to condoms for next six months at least. I just really feel weird w device in me n liked having pills better( control n no uterine lining issues/healing wait) . I obviously need to re read my orientation stuff again because this is being beought to my attn several times that we only have a malabsorption "period" so to speak. I definetly want baby to get nutrients n have one less thing to worry about! Thanks again!
