Has Anyone Noticed That The TWH Scales Might Be Off?
I've noticed that the scales at the TWH's 4th floor bariatric clinic seem to weigh me about 7lbs lighter than my family MD's old fashioned balance scales and my own electric scales. My MD's scales and my scales seem to agree and he claims his are accurate to within a 1/4lb, but they might be from the 50s/early60s.
Has anyone else noticed this? I'd prefer to think I'm 7lbs lighter!
Jenn. :)

Ok so the balance scales would need to be re-calibrated every few months to be that close to accurate. The reason for this is because little bumps and jars can move it out ever so slightly and while it may be 1/4 lb accurate at 25 lbs... If it is out 1/4 lb per 25 lbs... By the time you hit 100 lbs it is 1lb out. And so on.
Your own electric scales could vary based on where they are on the floor if your floor isn't level. If you want to have a fun game play move the scales. *grin* I have a "skinny" spot and a "heavy" spot in my living room. The heavy spot automatically adds 2% to the person's weight, and the skinny spot removes 2%. However I know where the one that matches physicians scales are.
For the large digital ones they use in bariatric clinics... If your feet are positioned incorrectly you could be off a little. The main sensors are typically in the center of the area you step on. I've had them make me take a step forward at HRRH and poof. I gained 4 lbs.
At the end of the day I am going to say this... the only ones that matter are the ones at the clinic as they are the ones tracking your progress. I hope that makes sense.
