Yes the 50+ centrum is the seniors, think that is what Ian means.
Same here. They are the only ones that I could chew without gagging. I don't want to swallow pills yet, because I have doubts about them being fully absorbed.

Normally a multi contains iron and calcium and the calcium stops the iron from absorbing. I'm not sure if prenatals do or not but if they do the iron isn't going to be absorbed. Nor is it going to be absorbed if it is an iron salt and you are on a PPI - and many centres put you on a PPI for the first few months after surgery (not all do but it seems be more comon).
Best to take iron separately from all other supplements unless you take either Proferrin or Feramax as your iron of choice. Then you can take them with whatever and they still absorb.
No, this is completely backwards. Iron in a multivitamin is completely useless. My bariatric multivitamin doesn't even have any in it, because calcium blocks the absorption of iron and ALL multivitamins have calcium in them, so the iron in them is just completely useless anyway. You CANNOT rely on a multivitamin to get your iron because the absorption of it is blocked by the calcium. This is why I take my multivitamin and calcium together in 3 doses during the day and then take iron separately at bedtime. This is the vitamin/mineral regimen I recommend to everyone. The ASMBS recommendations for iron are in ADDITION to whatever may happen to be in your particular multivitamin.
