I think I have another freakin' STRICTURE
Some of you might remember my post from last Tuesday or Wednesday about having a gastroscopy because I was having intermitent vomiting due to food getting stuck somewhere in my esophagus - so, yes, Dr. Starr found a stricture, dilated it with a balloon, I was asleep the whole time, easy peasy.
So, I've had a week of food not getting stuck!! Yayyyyyyy!!
Until last night. And this morning. Last night it was the chicken I tried to eat for supper (which I had eaten 2 days earlier and had no problem whatsoever) that got stuck. Would not go down. Waited as long as I could but the pressure got so bad I had to bring it up. Then this morning, samse thing - but this time its both water and my protein shake that won't go down FFS!!!! I immediately called Dr. Starr's office wanting to speak to him. Unfortunately, he's in surgery all day, so I have an appt tomorrow morning.
Why the hell would I have a 2nd stricture?? Anyone else experience this?
I'm pissed lol. Yet still keeping my sense of humour.......I think lol
Cheers,
Andrea
Wow sorry to hear this. I have not had any personal experience but have read in books and on the forum where it can happen a couple of times. I think the good news, if there is any to be had with the situation, is they know how to resolve. I have seen others where they experience a set of symptoms that cause a great deal of unpleasantness but the surgeons don't seem able to get to the bottom of it or quite know how to resolve.
I truly hope they identify and resolve your issue quickly. Here's hoping you feel better soon

Hoping that they will get this resolved for you asap.

Thanks everyone for your posts of support. I've spent the day researching strictures on this forum and other sites and have learned that apparently this can happen several times. Ugh!
One of you mentioned 8 times!! Yikes!
Each time you have a gastroscopy, you have to fast before hand, nothing in the 4 hours before the procedure (I couldn't do nothing, I had to have a few sips of water cuz my mouth felt like the Sahara desert lol), you're sedated, the procedure's done, you wake up, they monitor u for a bit and then you can leave. But you can't drive - you must have someone to take you home or you take a cab. Its a big pain in the ass for my sister, who has 2 small children, to be able to travel from the Danforth to HRRH during rush hour (cuz its always rush hour in toronto lol) to come get me!!
Shake went down earlier......yogurt went down eventually, water has been ok, anything more substantial like chicken or melba toast, no dice :( And don't even ask about my meds and supplements lol
Good grief, Andrea - that sucks! I hope this time's the charm and they manage to resolve it for you. Good luck today.
