Why I had my WLS
I am 15mths out. I read about all the great people who do running, 10km, 1/2 marathons. I am really jealous but my joints will not let me run. But today I was out on my bike. We did 15km as a start to the spring. It felt so good to be outside exercising. When I was 290 lbs i would bike a little but it was a lot of work. Could not keep up with my husband. And the pain was ridiculous.
I love the freedom it gives me.
Just a quick word to those who would like to start biking. Make sure your bike is adjusted to your height. I saw a lot of people out there with bikes that needed the seat moved up so their legs are extended and it is easier on the knees.
It was a beautiful day for bike riding! Glad to hear how much you are enjoying your increased health and mobility post-wls. I took my son and his friend to the zoo a couple of weekends ago and I was deeply grateful that I could do this...with very limited pain from my arthritis. When I carried the weight, I would never have been able to do something like that. I'm so grateful for my wls, too! Haven't see you at the group in a while...are you coming out to one again?
Glad you had a nice time! Biking is something I haven't tried since surgery. Maybe I should try again at some point. Pre-op, I could barely bike around the block, so I put it away.
It was a gorgeous day today, glad you got out in it and enjoyed it!

I bought a bike a few weeks ago but have yet to go out on it. The few times I have sat in it and tried to peddle it hurt my knees. I will adjust the seat and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip! I can't wait to get out in it.
