More Flooding
It's not great, that's true.
We still don't have power, though our water is apparently back on for now.
The worst last night was trying to get around in the city.
I had just travelled into Toronto from London when we were hit, just at Mississauga. Normally my ride back from London takes about 3 hours door-to-door.
This time is was closer to 7 hours, and that included
- 1 car ride,
- 1 Greyhound bus ride
- 1 hike through knee-deep water at Union station
- 1 hitchhike up to Dundas and Bay
- 1 long wet walk with suitcases up Bay to Wellesley
- 1 bud rise to Ossington
- 1 20-minute wait for shuttle busses that never arrived
- 1 subway ride to Jane Street
- another 20-minute wait for shuttle busses that never arrived
- and a 90-minute hike with (wet) suitcases in sandals through the pitch-black dark city street from Jane to my home north of Bloor off Islington.
Oh well - the good things are twofold
(a) at least we're not in Calgary or Lac-Megantic, or
(b) I won't have to worry about missing out on exercise yesterday!
Still waiting on the power to come back.
I am from Sudbury but was stuck in traffic for 4 hours. I was on Queen West and left htere JUST as the rain started at 5:10pm and by 9pm I was in Vaughan. It is terrible trying to cross intersections with no street lights and people not knowing how to do it or just being impatient! Soon as we passed the lights on Jane into Vaughan the lights were on there! I ended up back in my home at 2:38am. so our drive took us from 5:00 to 2:30 9 and a half hours! Usually it is 4 hours. I am completely exhausted at work today. need sleep!
