First night of CPAP
That's what the nurse at the drugstore mentioned - your body will tend to adjust to sleeping with your mouth shut once you are getting the proper air supply. Although I was warned that sometimes that doesn't happen, so not to get discouraged if the first few nights I wake up to find the mask on the floor, lol ;) If I find it too uncomfortable I will definitely look in to the chin strap and nasal pillows. Thanks!!
I got a call today to do my second part of the sleep clinic this Wednesday, It was suppose to be December 16th 2013. I'm so glad I put my name on the cancelation list. I will have my CPAP machine on or before Friday :) I also can't wait for feeling well rested!!!

I'm going on 5 years using the CPAP machine and running 12 AMPS every night! This is my lifeline. I first started off with the nasal and not feeling the effect of a good night sleep. So, I consulted again with the sleep doctor and he asked if I sleep with my mouth open, I told him yes. He immediately transferred me to a FULL-FACE MASK. Ever since then, I've been sleeping like a baby. My surgery is scheduled for 8/28 and the beginning of my new life and hopefully the beginning of not sleeping with a CPAP machine!

Good luck with the surgery on the 28th!! Coming up soon.... and here's hoping you will be able to get off the cpap as you lose weight :)
I had no troubles with my mouth open last night, funnily enough, but I did wake up with the mask on the floor and a vague recollection of the bridge of my nose and a spot on my forehead where there is a gel thing being really really sore. I know my nose was sore while I was falling asleep but I guess it got worse as the night wore on. Might have to bite the bullet and spend the money on a different mask!
lol good idea - perhaps my behind wouldn't be as wide either!! I didn't have too much trouble with my mouth being open but the mask definitely doesn't fit well. Back to the drugstore today! I don't feel any different today energy-wise, but I think I only kept it on for a few hours because I woke up to see the mask on the floor (and somehow I even turned off the machine) but I'm hoping that I will soon rely on it for the good night's sleep everyone raves about ;)
Make sure you trial as many different masks/nasel pillows as you can. I must use a chin strap. Most all machines have a disk that store your nightly readings, tells you if you have leaks, like if your mask isn't on correctly or if your wearing a nasel one, are you breathing through your mouth. It's the only way to check and monitor how your doing on cpap.
Make sure your unit has this feature.
