I am coming down with a cold, my first since surgery. I use to take vitamin C at the onset but now I don't really know what i can take. Do I still take childrens tylenol like in the hospital, can I take any cough medicine ? etc

I am Pre-Op.  But what about getting Chewable Vitamin C and sucking on it.  Most are orange flavor if i recall?

You can take anything you took pre-op for colds as most don't have nsaids in them.  When in doubt ask your pharmacist if it has any if you are not familiar with the usual names for them.  All Tylenol Cold Products are safe, Vitamin C is fine.  Why not just take regular tylenol pills at this point?  Usually by 1 month out you are allowed to take pills the size of an M&M.

Depends on the type of cold you are starting to get.  If it's congestion, you could always do vicks!  But go ahead and take the Vit C.  Those who have to take iron are supposed to.  And it does come in chewable forms if you aren't able to take pills yet.

Hope you get over it quick!

I don't have a pouch...I had VSG...but I have been able to swallow pills since the day of surgery.  I have to take a lot of medication and have been managing ok...you may want to try taking the pill form and if you are worried about the size try cutting it up.  Hope this helps.  Good luck and feel better soon!
