Hi well I hope that this is not TMI.  But we have discussed many things on this site and I am just wondering about how you treat constipation after your RNY.  Im 10 post op and everything has been moving along fine until 3 days ago and I just stopped going.  Is there something special that I should be doing?   HELP!!  :-)   Val

Try Milk Of Magnesia which can be found at your local pharmacy. Also if you are taking any kind of narcotic pain killer, fiber just may make your problem worse. If taking Milk Of Magnesia twice a day doesn't help, you can try Sennekot (also from your pharmacy). Take 2 of those before bed and you should be good to "go" in the morning =)

MOM (Milk of Magnetia) works well.  I was 5 days post surgery and hadn't gone, could feel it kinda "stuck" (I know TMI) so I was told I could take MOM and a ducocet suppository.

Once you get going, make sure you drink lots of water every day.  It's real important now that the weather is warmer.  It's harder to tell how much you need to drink when the temperature goes up.

Buy the flavoured kind. The original tastes like ass. I found Senokot S worked wonders. 3 before bedtime and the next morning everything was moving. Good luck. It was the worse part of this whole surgery. Thankfully it was only an issue the first couple of weeks.

My surgeon recommended taking Colace (over the counter stool softener) regularly and a Miralax equivalent (polyethelyne glycol) when needed.
