Hello folks

Well I had my surgery on Wednesday Jan 6 and came home yesterday.  I feel amazing and can't believe I just had major abdominal surgery this week.  I am not going to lie, the first 24 hours I was really wondering if I had made a mistake but it was because I was so nauseated.  On the second day, I ask to switch over to the Percocet and I was like a new person.  The morphine definitely did not agree with me.

I had some bleeding during the surgery so ended up with a lot of abdominal bruising but really doesn't feel so bad just looks bad. The staff at TEGH were fantastic but it was so noisy and crowded it was good to come home.  Dr. Aarts is so nice and so are all of her residents, I really could not complain about the care at all.  It will be nice when they get their new floor but I think that won't be for a while.

I'm trying to journal my food and keep up to the amounts were are supposed to have but it is difficult to get it all in.

What are other people taking for an iron supplement.  I have a capsule and it is just tooooo gross.  I must find something else for my iron.

Not much else to report but I think I am doing well.  I am staying away from the scales until the gas is gone and things have settled down for a few days.

Thanks for all of your encouragement pre operatively.  Again, the unknown is so scary but its not bad once you go through it.

congratulations and welcome to the losers bench, for iron i take feramax i open the capsule and dissolve the powder into a tea its the best way for you to absorb the iron its to put it into a warm liquid.   There are only 2 irons we absorb post gastric bypass feramax or proferrin so anything else you are just wasting your money.
