I guess this would be day 2 post op since it's so early in the morning. I am a little sore tonight and took some pain meds. At my sisters in Toronto until Saturday when my boyfriend will pick me up. I managed to have my first "toot" as a polite way of putting it. This may be a bit tmi but I am a little worried that there was blood in my stool. I guess that only makes sense and just need some reassurance. I've managed to sip down 3 cups of water since getting home at 4pm which I thought was really good. Also have some strained cream soup and a little unsweetened apple sauce. Certainly not getting in the protein yet but plan on adding some powder tomorrow. Any tips please share. Guess I've joined you all on the bench!

You're doing great Faye.  You can call your Centre and ask about the blood in the stool just to be on the safe side if it continues.

Thanks crqving. Just called and seems quite normal. They said just what you did. If it continues then possibly ggo in.  So far I feel good and think this is just old blood. Thanks!  Takes away a bit of the worrying. ?

Glad they helped. Remember you can always add unflavoured whey protein to soup (Bulk barn) .

Hi C.C. how is that unflavoured protein powder from Bulk Barn? Does it keep well? Does it mix in well?

Thanks!

K

It mixes well with cold fluids.  If you want to mix it in with soup, you have to add it after the soup is cooked and not boiling.  It tends to clump if it boils, so not good if you microwave it.  As for the taste, everyone's taste is different so I would suggest buying a tiny amount and trying it in yogurt, soup, coffee and see how you like it.  I would also suggest not buying any large containers of protein powder to use right after surgery.  Most find that their tastes change after surgery and those big expensive containers sit in the cupboard unused.

Thanks very much! I'll try it out with a few liquids and solids and see how it mixes in. I completely forgot about the change in tastes.. thanks for the reminder. I think I have one of those half used giant containers of protein powder in the pantry!

Hi Kathy. Just still a little stiff and sore but each day is easier for sure. I can get up and down with no issues. I feel on one side seems to be pulling a bit. Will wait for my one month check up to see if that's normal.  One day at a time!!
