I am so excited just got my orientation letter to TWH!!

2 questions if anyone could help me

A) It says the orientation is for Gastric Bypass, will I be able to choose the sleeve surgery over the bypass?

B) How long is the current wait times until surgery?

Please help!!

We're in the same stage, I have an upcoming orientation too. :)

Hello,

When is your orientation? At TWH?

I just got back from orientation. They said it' a year to get through the steps etc. I' doing telehealth for the appointments that I can but my first appointment was scheduled for Feb 8 .Don't worry a year will go by faster than you think.

Cheers

I've done all my appointments (except the nutrition class which has to be done in person) via telehealth as well. Super easy and convenient.

I can hardly believe 6 months has already passed since I went to orientation.

I'm so much less anxious now that I can do the telehealth. The drive to the city freaks me out !!! lol Small town girl who hardly goes south of newmarket lol.

A) I think you can request the sleeve, but keep an open mind until after the orientation. They do suggest that RNY is the 'gold-standard'. I had RNY and am INCREDIBLY happy with the results. 6 months post-op and I feel like I've been reborn. I often walk by a mirror/window/anything that reflects and think 'WOW - THATS ME!'

B) Wait time is roughly 1 year, but TWH and especially Andrew at front desk are willing to help out with cancellations if you are prepared to go through sooner. I was 6 1/2 months orientation-to-surgery. I know that some have even been faster than that. Just make sure you do all your research, ask all your questions and make the changes that they want you to make pre-surgery. If you feel unsure, slow down the process. There is no timeframe that is best for everyone. You need to find what works best for you.

Good luck on this super exciting time!!! If feels like forever ago for me, when really my orientation anniversary just passed. :)
