It really depends on your centre but I'm allowed to have water, sugar free decaf drinks like crystal light, sugar free kool-aid, decaf coffee and tea with no milk but you are allowed sweeteners.

I also bought some popsicle moulds from the dollar store and make crystal light popsicles nomnom...

Good luck tomorrow!

Topic: RE: Last minute optifast question
Hey Cyndylw,

I'm on Optifast right now and actually really enjoy the chocolate just by itself. I do add about 500 mls of water versus the 300 it says to.

For the vanilla, I mix in sugar free syrup. I bought mine from Home Outfitters and Nutrition House (which in the one near me has a mini-low carb grocer selection). I like Vanilla opti with 2tbsp Strawberry syrup and 1 tbs vanilla syrup and 500 mls of water with 4 ice cubes all mixed up. I also am loving my banana ones I make with vanilla opti, 500 mls of water, 4 ice cubes, 2 tbs of vanilla syrup and a dash of banana extract all mixed up.

Hope it goes well!

 HI Barb,

I tried the premier nutrition shakes before starting the optifast. They taste pretty good but have a strong smell so after surgery I plan on drinking them right from the container so I don't have to smell it as much from when you drink it out of a glass.

Topic: RE: wondering about protein shakes
The last time I was at GNC (I was window shopping as I haven't had surgery yet) the lady explained to me that all of their protein shakes are returnable. And I said, so if I have a shake or two out of it and decide I don't like it, I can return it. And she said it wasn't a problem. I thought that was great because I was a little worried about buying this big giant jug and not liking it. Maybe it's something to ask at your GNC.

Hope you find something that works!

Topic: RE: Catching Zzzzzzzz's
I've felt like this all week. I started OptiFast last Friday (24th) and all that weekend, I was tired and sluggish and had a couple of naps on the couch. During the week I was a bit better but then Wednesday and Thursday I was out busy all day and today I slept until 11:30 and just feel drained. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I feel like it's because my body was used to more calories and energy from food (just a thought) that it's taking time to adjust.

Happy Napping! LOL

Topic: RE: OMG Vanilla Optifast Hell
I found that using a vanilla optifast with a raspberry peach crystal light was okay, not too bad.
My favourite though is using vanilla optifast with a bit of SF vanilla DaVinci syrup and a bit of banana extract and lots of water (450-500mls). I mix that in my blender bottle and then add 4 ice cubes. I find I need the vanilla colder than the chocolate. Hope that helps.

Wow!  That is a coincidence! I guess I'll see you at the hospital.

Actually I'm one of those weird ones who likes the Optifast. I think the chocolate is good one it's one, I just add about 500 mls of cold water in my shaker bottle and I'm good to go. Vanilla is a different situation. I need to mix it with something. I like it with Raspberry Peach Crystal Light or with a bit of vanilla SF syrup and banana extract. How about you? How are you liking it?

All the best with your surgery!

Thanks for your help! I do realize that the site was targeting for a product but I find the closer I get to surgery, the more my mind wanders and thinks on surgery. I read those articles you posted and they seem promising about long term success, which helped me understand a bit better. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks Dawn for the articles, I'm just reading now.

I'm not sure if it's Sue Widmark's site but the one I found was:

http://arkansasunshine.tripod.com/testimony/testimony.html

Basically, I read this woman had great success, went down a bad road and was in poor health until she found Atkins. Then she described every single thing she attributes to WLS (somethings I had never read before then). I know it's on a site for Atkins but somethings I just don't understand, like increased risk of Stomach Cancer, I've read that surgery can help obese people decrease there risk of cancer?!?

Just wondering how many years out the vets are on the Ontario board. I was just researching Gastric Bypass 20 years out to see how the success rate was and didn't come up with much, just one lady's blog warning about all the long term adverse effects of surgery.

Anyone's opinions are welcome. Thanks!
