Anyone had a Free Nipple Graft?

My breast reduction and tummy tuck are next Friday the 15th (whoo hoo!) I am having an FNG in regards to my breast reduction. I have done extensive research on this procedure and am convinced this is the way to go for me. I was just wondering if anyone else here had it done, because it is not the norm with a BR anymore. In case anyone is wondering, an FNG is where they actually remove your nipple and re-graft it back on. This is done in cases where the notch-to-nipple measurement is more than 40cm and the pedicle in your breast is too long to wind back up into the smaller pocket of your new breast. The cons of having this done is loss of sensitivity (no issue for me, have zilch now) and probably loss of projection (that doesn't bother me much either, I dislike having high-beams LOL). The pros are I will have a much prettier shaped breast and I will be the size I wish to be, thus skipping the need for an augmentation.

This past May I had a BL with the PS placed my nipples in a different location. Actually I did not know that there actually was a name for it so thank you for telling me about FNG. I do not have any loss of sensitivity and my girls stick right out and are nice and perky. I ended up with about a 36C from a 48F (pre op). I probably was about a 36/38 DD the day of my BL. I opted out of an augmentation because I had been so big all of my adult life and I was tired of having back aches and wearing underwire bras. Hope I have given you helpful info. Chris

You are looking great! there is a difference between a free nipple graft and just moving it up. Most breast lifts keep the nipple attached by a "pedistal" (bad spelling i think) of tissue, a free graft completely removes it and replaces it. If you have no loss of sensation it maybe was not a free graft. From what I have read the free graft is used for extremely pendulous breasts. apparently in very pendulous breasts if the pedistal is too long there is a high risk of losing circulation to the nipple, and losing it completely. even tho it seemed weird to me, the free graft apparently is less likely to result in nipple loss.

I guess you would say that is what my dr did this past tuesday. My nipples literally pointed at the ground & I was a 40DD. He didn't remove breast tissue but did a lift & completely repositioned the nipples as well as reduced the size in the aereoles. I knew there was a risk of loss of nipple or sensation. I wasn't horribly concerned because like you I didn't really have any sensation anyway. Surprisingly enough, 5 days out & I already have sensation. In fact I may have more sensation now than I had before. Needless to say that was a nice surprise.
