Seroma Experts Needed!
Dr. LoMonaco,
Thank you so much for your response! Doxycycline is exactly what my PS injected into my drain last week. She mentioned that she would try to get enough in, as these drains reach all the way to the back side of my body from my mons. Obviously, the antibiotic didn't reach as I'm still producing lots of ccs.
I wasn't aware of the protein loss, that the serous fluid contained protein. That is interesting. She will be removing the drains tomorrow. I will ask her to try a larger dose of the doxycycline... so that it reaches, or whatever her suggestion is. I'm so excited to have them removed! I just hope the doxycycline does the trick tomorrow!

Hey Katie...I got my seroma about one week post op...and it'll be five weeks for me tomorrow and it's STILL there, albeit smaller.
You will probably be fine since you've had your drains in so long.......I have not had mine drained in like two weeks.....
Eventually my lymphatic system has begun to work to remove the fluid...it's just S L O W L Y coming off.
I'm not EVEN going to go into Russ's ONE TIME drain only. *harrumph* LOL

My PS told me that they will reabsorb, but it takes a good while............ were your drains draining much? If not then you shouldn't build up one too fast. I had my drains out at 1 week, and had one drained at week 3, it had gotten bigger and then started to get hurt about 4 days before the appointment.............. if you have a girdle or binder to wear for swelling, that helps with the discomfort. Good luck, you will probably be fine. Funny how they are all different, I had a shower the day of surgery, and was supposed to do it twice a day after that. that was actually the high light of my day when I came home. Nice ho****er on my sore self.
