Hi everyone, I am five weeks out from tummy tuck (didn't need muscles tightened) and lipo of flanks. I discovered hared lumps under my incision, one almost size of an egg. I called My PS and she said that it was scar tissue and to massage them agressively three times a day. Has anyone  had this problem? I would love to hear from you. Thanks and hugs to all Judi

Yes.  On other surgeries as well.  I'm told by surgeons that at six to eight weeks the scars are the ugliest. In extreme cases, they can give you cortisone injections in the scar and it will help control this.

I am 2 weeks out from having my panni  removed and I have a hard lump also. My surgeon told me the same thing (scar tissue).  They did not tell me to do anything.  But I will try the massaging to see if that works.  I am a person who keloids very easy, my scar has not keloided but the scar tissue under the incision tells me that maybe it's trying keloid from the inside. I'm going to massage. Good luck.

Judi Our surgery dates are close together I'm almost 5 weeks post-op my surgery was 9/10. In the last week I have noticed a few as you call them "lumps" along my incision line. My PS said to expect the incision line to "peak" at about 6 weeks and even have a "rope" feel to it...that is what I'm experiencing too...so he was right on. If you run your fingers along the incision does it feel like rope...if so I think you're the norm. Scars do funny things before they decide to settle down...so I don't think this is your final result. as long as you have no fever, redness, or it's not hot to the touch...I would do just as your doc suggests...I rub mine down with cocoa butter every night...and the massaging actually feels good too. Hi Tanya, Thanks for your reply. Mine does not feel like a rope, it is a hard lump about the size of a small egg on one side and along the other side of the incision I have 3 smaller ones. I am massaging, I'll try the cocoa butter. Thanks & Good Luck Judi

Hi Judi, I had the same thing.  I had my TT w/ Lipo and muscle tightening done 8 months ago and I did have the hard lumps and mine actually hurt.  I did massage them and the eventually went away, I haven't had any issues with them since I was about 2 months post op.  I was told it happens mostly at lipo spots and that is where I got them.   Good luck! Ilyssa :-)

I'm three weeks out on a TT and breast lift. I don't have hard lumps on my TT incision, but my breast tissue is still extremely hard along the incision line. Since the incisions aren't 100% closed, we've been doing scar therapy, but not aggressively massaging as I don't want to pop anything open.
