Hi All,

I am about 8 weeks post op (LBL, Tummy Tuck, Arms) and I was wondering if any of you used any type of scar cream.  My doctor gave me some samples and now I am to purchase on my own and was just wondering what type did you use and what did you think?

thanks,

Lou

My dr reccomends Scar Guard and I used two bottles of it and don't think there was any difference.  I've just bought Kelo-cote Scar Gel from makemeheal.com and although it's expensive I can see results right away.  I've also used cocoa butter cream for a long time since I heard that was just as good - no earth shaking results with that although it smells nice.

I'm going to keep using the Kelo-cote for all my scar healing needs.

I bought scar zone from Walmart for under ten bucks a tube and it works great I use the rounded end to rub it on.  My doc said any lotion will work just use it at least 3 times a day.  I usually have big ugly scars and so far so good!

It takes FOREVER to dry though... what do you do while it's drying??

Wait a little bit then just put my undies over it and put my binder on.    No time to wait around....

I used several types that were recommended and honestly...I dont  think they worked either.

Just a waste of money. (in my opinion)  Even the pharmacist told me that! lol..

Time is really what causes them to fade and it all depends on the scarring as well.  We are all different.

GOOD LUCK!    Julie  =)

I use Triamcinolone Acetonide ointment on all of my scars.  It is a topical cortico-steriod, and it can be used prophylactically to prevent hypertrophic scars and keloids. In many cases should hypertrophic scars or keloids form, injections of Triamcinolone Acetonide (Kenalog) are used to thin the tissue and help minimize the scars.

I have found that the ointment works wonderfully, the ony thing it did not help was how wide part of my scars on my thighs were after I suffered wound separation.  However, the scar may be wide, but it is flat and fading already.  My TT scars are flat as can be and just look like someone took a fine point pen and drew a little line around me!

And, in the end, I distilled everything down to one wonderfully simple principle: win or die.

Hi,

Where do you find Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment?  It sounds really good!

Triamcinolone Acetonide is by script only.  I got mine from my dermatologist.  It is great...you really should try it!!

Dr. Fabio recommended Kelo-Cote and Dr. Wagstrom (in Nashville) said Mederma is as good as anything else.  I'm going with the kelo-cote
