Hi,

Im scheduled for a paniculetomy this week.  Im curious as to how much weight you lost prior to that particular surgery, and how much skin was removed during it..

The plastic surgeon I am using says that people lose far less than they are expecting after that surgery.  That the average is 3-5 lbs.

I feel like I have alot of extra skin after my 215lb weight loss.  Im suprised it would only be 3-5 lbs.  What is your experience?

Thank you!

I started at 313 lbs... I was 132 lbs. day of surgery... lower body-lift w/anchor-cut, breast-lift w/augmentation, fat injection to my arse. I weigh 124-126...

You'll have swelling for nearly a year... my doctor said he took off 10 lbs of skin and ZERO liposuction... he actually recommended I gain weight prior to surgery.
highest :313 | current :124 | low goal :145 | lowest: 118

Hi!
I did not have WLS surgery but I have lost almost 165 lbs and was at my goal when I had my Tummy Tuck done 2 months ago.  I was actually about 5 lbs below my original goal.
I had hanging skin to be removed......no fat to be removed....there was a lot of skin but still it only weighed about 5 lbs.  It's amazing how much less the skin really weighs.

I heard Dr. Oz say that all the skin on the body (I'm talking just skin not the fat under it) weighs only 30 lbs for an avg person.  I was surprised by that but it help me understand why my big hanging tummy only weighed about 5 lbs.

At week 7 post op I was down about 6 or 6.5 lbs from my pre-surgery weight.  Some was the skin removed and some was weight loss because I didn't eat much the first 10 days post op.  I had muscle tightening so I always felt full.

Hope that helps....

I personally have not had a panniculectomy, however, I have met people at support group meetings that have had them before they reach goal because of the immobility factor they were creating. After the panni was removed and they were healed they were able to increase their physical activity and come much closer to goal.

Each patient is different.  If you still have weight to lose after your panni removal, and you stick to your plan it is fully possible for you to continue to drop weight beyond the 3-5 pound loss teh surgeon told you.

Many people only want to have procedures done once, and for this reason they try to be close to goal.   Are you wanting to lose more weight after your surgery?

I had a panniculectomy about 10 days ago, they said they took off just under 3lbs.  I thought it would be between 5-10lbs. I have lost around 140lbs and most of my weight was in the tummy.
