Here is the email I received back from Dr Sauceda explaining everything and giving proof to his certifications.
The "Consejo Mexicano de Cirugia Plastica" and the "Asociacion
Mexicana de Cirugia Plastica" (AMCPER), are in the same building,
actually in the same office.

Actually if you put in google "Consejo Mexicano de Cirugia Plastica", it is going to show you the Asociacion Mexicana de Cirugia Plastica web site. They are not the same thing, the Consejo Mexicano de Cirugia Plastica has to watch over the 13 plastic surgery programs on the all country, and has to put the final exam on the residents who have finish their course. This is a hard exam, in my case, it was written and oral exam, but after some years they only require the
written one. The AMCPER is the association which make the national congress of
plastic surgery.
But to be on the Asociacion Mexicana de Cirugia Plastica, you have to pass this exam. Now, I don't know how it is in the states, but here in Mexico for a plastic surgeon if he or she is the biggest plastic surgeon association you have to be on the board. Anyway, here is the link of the Consejo Mexicano de Cirugia Plastica in there you can find my name.

On the Medicos Certificados there are the all abc, you have to click on the big S, and then click several times on siguente ( because on the S, there a lot of plastic surgeons.)
Also I am in the FILACP, ( FEDERACIÓN IBERO LATINOAMERICANA DE CIRUGÍA
PLÁSTICA Y RECONSTRUCTIVA), which is the ibero latinamerican federation of plastic surgery.

In there you have to put my last name and my name.
Hope that helps!

Hello Charming,
I am not interested in the PS Dr.Joya's office recommends...I saw his website and was not convinced at all lol.
I found Dr. Joya here on OH, talk to a lot of his patients but I didn't check his credentials further beyond...It was an impulsive thing and was disappointed on some points...(not about his surgical kills but about his post-op service - inexistent).
I recognized my mistake and decided I was to be much more careful in my journey to find my plastic surgeon.
My local PCP knows some PS. I am gonna consult at least one...but the challenge will be to find one specialized in massive weight loss. I made some research here in México city and not a lot do the thighs and butt lifts for instance.

WOW you are like a dog on a bone. LOL. Dr. Alvarez did suggest Dr. Sauceda to people. So there ya go if that is all that matters. :)
I actually did contact Dr. Aceves and he gave me names in Mexicali but I chose to go a different route. But I feel do feel confident that Dr. Alvaraez recommends Sauceda as well. Dr. Alvaraez was my second choice for a weight loss surgeon.
LOL I am still laughing not mad but laughing at how serious you take other people's decisions to go out of the country when you haven't been. If you had and had a bad experience I would SO understand. But there are a couple that do this on the sleeve forum as well. They absolutely abhor the idea of leaving the country. But if I hadn't left the country I wouldn't be almost 90 pounds thinner, no diabetes and normal cholesterol. Sometimes it's not so easy for other people to do things the way you did them. It may have been best for you but not necessarily the best or even attainable for others. It's not a black and white issue.

No LOLing, but baffled at how you misread my post. I suggested she get references from her MEXICAN surgeon ... at least that's where I thought her physician was. Or to get referrals from the surgeon *****commended her Mexican surgeon.
People have surgery out of the country all the time. The vast majority of the planet's people live out of the US, and it would be irrational to suggest they all move here to get surgery. But the original poster is quite rational to ask how to get credentials for someone who operates outside of the US, which is what rational people do. And my recommendation is, find out from your Mexican surgeon who he recommends.
LOL away.

I never said it was irrational to check credentials. That is one thing we agree on. I am just not going to be so black and white and get a referral ONLY from my Dr. which seems to be your mission in life. And that's fine. I just don't get it. I am new to this forum but so far I've ONLY seen you post for the majority on posts regarding mexican surgeons, going out of the country etc. So it does "seem" that your view is tainted against going out of the country. But that's just the way I read your words and the way several others read them as well. So if you mean something else you might think about that otherwise if it's what you mean - well you're on target. :)
Again I am not mad or being rude. Just sharing my straightfoward opinion the same as you have. :)

Sweetheart -- just let her go !! She did all her research , went to a local doctor and had problems ! They may have just happened , may have been her doctors fault , may have been her own fault or a comb of them all !! I do not know and it is not any of my business -- just know she is UNHAPPY about everything !!
But the end result is she had problems !! And I think she just wants EVERYBODY else to join here in being in a bad frame of mind !!
I hope everybody researches as much as possible before making a choice . But I just have to say for someone to push asking a doctor here in the US or an agency to be the main factor in picking a surgeon and not to listen to people who have already "been there and done that" -- is just beyond me !!
Yes I know in her "perfect world" nobody every gets paid off and things never get overlooked because of "red tape" or gets something for looking the other way -- but I happen to live in a real world so I know better !!
But Leah -- I am sure if you ask her she will tell you all about what town to travel to and which doctor to pick !! LOL
Good Luck on your upcoming surgery !!

I have never told anyone which doctor to choose, or where to travel. Any surgical "problems" I have had were blessedly tedious -- swelling (now gone), pain (now long gone) ... and stlil not looking 18 (but I can live with that).
But I do have a lot of questions about HOW people DO choose their care. We ALL have a stake in that.
You are a living, breathing, walking argument for screening WLS and PS patients psychiatrically before operating.

How do you have a stake in how I or other people you don't know IRL or really in depth online choose their doctors? I've seen lots of people on and off line make weird medical decisions, not follow post op instructions etc but that doesn't affect me or my outcome. It saddens me for them in some cases but it's their life. Free will is both a blessing and a curse at times.
