How much surgery is too much at one time?

I am having a TT, brachioplasty & a BA all at the same time. I will be cared for 24/7 at a recovery inn - then fly home & take an additional 2 weeks off.

2 PS's I have asked said they would do all 3 at once. You only have to recover once. I am 50 years old. I have 180 days to go until surgery & am going to the fitness center now 3 times a week. I want to be in the best shaoe possible. My PS said it will help me recover faster.

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in 2001 - the next day they had me up - walking around & in a shower. I think I can handle the TT - it is the arms that have me a little nervous. That's why I'm glad I'm staying 2 weeks where nurses can help me if I need it.

Dont be nervous WW...the arms are not so bad. The compression garment helps a great deal but you will find that you drop everything...at least all of us in Mexico at the same time felt like that was the case. LOL. Let the nurses know what you dropped and where and let them retrieve it.

By the second day, I managed to pick things up...but only if it was something I needed right away.

Good luck to you!!

I had a LBL w/muscle repair, BL/BA, Brachioplasty, and medial thigh lift. I was in the clinic for about 4 days and had intravenous pain meds until I left and then had Tylenol after that. I was able to manage well enough. I learned to keep my movements slow and methodical and was able to do most of what I needed for myself. Is it doable for me yes. Would I do it again, yes. It has been over a year and I had no complications.

God speed in your journey for success and satisfaction.

Congrats with your success!  Did you need help getting in and out of your binders after 4 days?  I have family to help with this but I'd like to be independent quickly.

I am going to call the surgeon's office tomorrow to discuss the procedures and the impact of doing all together.  I want to do it all together if I can but now rethinking the impact of moving with the arms/legs/stomach.

The garments I used is below. The bra hooks from the front so it made it easier to put on and take off. The body garment hooks and zips on each side and has a crotch opening so you do not have to take it off to go to the bathroom. I learned to take my time and hook up each side going back and forth until I reached the top.  I felt so much better with the garments on. Yes I had family at home and my Mother was with me on my first trip but by the time I got back to the hotel I was doing it by myself. The key for me is just to take my time. I would put the arm garment on first to protect my arms and then I would put the body garment on.

Only you know your limits. We all have different pain tolerances as well as different cir****tances in which to recover so do what is going to work best for you.

In October I had a TT, outer thigh lipo (the most painful of all) and fat and skin removed from under my Right underarm.  It was very hard for me to get out of bed using only one arm with having my abdomen being sore from the surgery.

I can't imagine how difficult is is to get up out of bed if a person has had both arms done.  Never mind try to get the binder back on after a shower or even a few times a day to strip the drain tube.  I needed help getting in and out of my binder for 2 weeks until I could hook it up and zip it from the tenderness of my underarm.

Good luck with your decision.

I told my surgeon everything I wanted done.

Most surgeons will only put you down for so many hours at a time.  Each thing you want done takes so long.

After you tell them what you want done, most surgeons will tell you what they are WILLING to do in "one surgery" out of everything you want done.  They will also offer suggestions on which procedures you would probably want to combine with others with regards to making your recovery easiest.

For instance, I wanted breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck, a hoochie lift (I have NO idea what you even call that.), lipsuction of pretty much every single area there might be any fat left from the bottom of my bra-line all the way to my thighs AND an inner thigh lift.

After looking at me and planning out the procedures based on my measurements and his notes of what I wanted, my surgeon said he would do everything except the inner thigh lift at one time.  He didn't feel comfortable doing the inner thighs because the rest alone would put me out for about 5 hours.  And the inner thighs are apparently also a hard procedure to recover from if you get it done at the same time as everything else.

I assume since you have several PS consulations and have picked your surgeon, that you are comfortable with him/her.  Listen to whatever they say.  They will not only advise you on what procedures they think will combine to make recovery best for you, but they will tell you what positions because of time constraints are POSSIBLE to do in one combination procedure.
