Anyone have arm lipo?

I'm having PS in Jan -- TT and Breast Lift/Aug (going up to a C from what is probably a B when they get in the right spot).  The PS didn't think my upper arms were too bad and thought lipo might allow the skin to contract. Has anyone had this experience?
Thanks for any info.

Hi Christine,
I had brachio on Nov 20.  My daughter is taking me to my post op appt today and she is going to talk to the surgeon about lipo on her arms.  I will be interested to see what information he gives her.  I will also be watching this thread to see if others have gone through lipo on the arms!

I had some lipo with my brachioplasty, but my PS told me that Lipo alone on my arms wouldn't do any good cause I already had lose skin and our (WLS) skin does not have the elasticity like other people do for lipo
Good Luck

I had lipo on my arms and it really made a big difference for me.  The skin did not contract but it sure did reduce the bulk in my arms.  Only thing is it takes a long time to recover from lipo.  I had it done at the end of July and my arms are still very numb!!

History - I had a brachioplasty done in March of 2009....the surgeon left too much skin on...I went in for a revision whi*****luded lipo and the excess skin removal....he only did the lipo so now I still have skin to remove so I'll be having another revision done around Jan/Feb.  BUT the lipo he did sure did reduce the size of the arms but did nothing for tightening the skin.  After so many years of being obese and yo-yo weight loss and at my age there is no way my skin will bounce back....it needs cutting off.

Best wishes!!!

Hi there,
I just had arm lipo. INtitially, I had brachioplasty. After that was finished, I still had a lot of bulk on my arms, not skin, just bulk. The PS felt that going in and lipoing the area would descrease the bulkiness. It sure did. I am just now seeing the results. They are very swollen as this was just 11 days ago. I have a feeling I will need to go back in and have the brachioplasty revised with more skin pulled, but it is too hard to tell right now.

Have a great day!

I had brachioplasty first.  Eight months later, I had lipo in a revision.  My skin retracted beautifully.  I'm very happy with the results.

I had a brachioplasty with a lot of lipo on Nov. 1st.  The lipo is the worst of it -- it HURTS!!  A LOT!!  Especially the lipo that was done on my lower arms -- the sensation of numbness, and ripping when I move my arms in certain directions is very unpleasant.  I'm not sure yet whether the lower arm lipo was worth it, because I am still swollen and baggy looking there.  At age 56, I may not get much if any contraction of the skin.  But overall there is clear improvement.  I'm just warning you this was not easy for me -- it doesn't sound that bad, but I'm still not sure the outcome will be worth the pain involved.

I had arm lipo about 8 years ago and my arm measurement went from approximately 18" to 13".  I had it done in conjunction with extensive lipo of the hips, tummy, inner and outer thighs.  I did not think any of it was too painful to be honest.  I felt bruised for a few days and was back at the gym within 2 weeks.  I was much younger then and the skin did fairly well.  Of course I put on a ton of weight in the years after and had wls in January of this year and my arms are now back down to 13" or so but are looser this time around.  Unfortunately our skin is not that forgiving.  You can only abuse it so much.

Laura, May I ask how old you were when you had the successful lipo?  I wonder if that makes a difference. I was one who gained and NEVER lost...no yoyo beyond 10 lbs for me.  Just have to wonder how the skin will be.
Thanks!

I was 38 at the time and I have been a yoyo dieter most of my life.  However, I always have worked out with wieghts as well.  Now, post weight loss surgery, my arms are still doing okay...not quite as tight as I would like, but very acceptable.  I think if you get the lipo and maintain your weight and exercise reasonably you will have successful results.  Good luck!

P.S.  I'm 46 years old now.
