Post op extended TT and hernia repair.  Looking for good brand names/prices of sheets to buy.  Better to get online?  The PS office sells a long tape for $60, I think. Is that a good price?  I would need to buy two of them as my vertical incision is almost as long as my horizontal hip to hip incision.  The hernia repair incision is not very straight and has a good size keliod at the end.  Don't know if I'll have to use extra to cover these issues.

$60 for a long tape is a very very good price.

I shopped around extensively online and the best price-to-value that I was able to find was one that was a 1.6" x 18" strip by Rejuveness on Amazon.com for about $97 per strip.  There was a 10% discount offer with it, so figure $90 per strip.  I had to buy four.

That stuff is just darned expensive, and I haven't the foggiest idea why.

I have loads of incisions so I went with 5 sheets - http://recoveryelements.com/epi-dermlargesiliconegelsheet.aspx?variation=1369     $391.00 (Enter 30026 for 10% Discount on Orders over $100.00)  for 5 large 11x16 sheets that can be cut up.    These are the largest sheets I've found and the price is not that bad buying the larger amount. 

Forgot this one too.  Looks easy to use with the velro close .... and reasonable.  You could use what you cut off for the waist someplace else with tape.

No ideas of cost - I'm participating in a program with my surgeon where the silicon company will provide it to me if I let them have pics of my progress.

However - according to my surgeon, they have found NO difference in the different brands of silicon, as long as there's at least 1/16-1/8 inch of silicon.

And don't let anyone tell you that you need extra for when it wears out - You can wa**** in the sink with a mild soap and let it air dry over night, and the stuff is just about indestructible. I still have some that's 6 years old from a knee surgery I had.

I was going to ask about that.  I have been using Cicacare sheets for the last month.  The info says they last 2-4 weeks.  But really, they are in the same shape now as they were 4 weeks ago...not sure why I'd have to change them at 4 weeks?

My original PT told me just to wash them regularly and keep them forever.  She felt that the 2-4 weeks estimate was hugely low, and probably just to keep away lawsuits from people who weren't seeing much benefit.

My surgeon says the benefit of the silicon is simply that it keeps the scar moist but not wet, allowing the skin to heal quicker, so as long as you have silicon that's not gunked up with dead skin cells, you should be fine.
