husband's issue

Ok, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I want to get other opinions.

I had LBL with anchor/fleur cut, BR/BL, brachioplasty 8 weeks ago.  Per my surgeons, my healing is way ahead of the curve (yes there WILL be pics as soon as I can figure out how to take them myself... you'll hear why in a moment).  Things are flat around the hips, and in some spots, almost disappeared (as in, I have to search to see the red line) and up the abdomen, as well as most of the arms (the elbows still have a bit of "rope.").  At the edge of the back cuts there is also a bit of "rope," but it's way reduced from what it was before.  Breasts still have red lines under and up to the nipple, but the nipple scars are invisible.  Surgeons have said they believe that the last little bit of "ropes" will be gone by 6 months (initially there were a lot more, but they've subsided wonderfully), but if not, they can/will be corrected in anoffice procedure at no extra charge.

I am scheduled to have thighs done 3-24-11.  We had the consult/planning meeting on Wednesday.  The surgeon wants to do the crescent cut from just at the front of the groin around to under the buttocks, and then a vertical cut that may go down into my calf (there is a LOT of excess skin!).  I am not at all concerned with this.

DH is.

He finally told me last night that he has a real problem with my current scars, is afraid that they will always be very noticeable, and that I will never wear tanks or strapless dresses again.  He's now decided that if I have the vertical cut on the thighs that I will never wear a dress or shorts again. (notice: this has not affected desire on his part, so it can't be THAT bad!)

Uggghhhhh!!!

Seriously, has anyone had that happen to them?  I know that, if someone looks for the scar after it's fully healed which may be over a year, they can find it.  But really, that they will always remain very noticeable?  Is he over-reacting, especially given how reduced my current scars are?

Thanks for any info!

Congratulations on your plastics and your awesome results.  I can't wait to see the pictures!  It sounds like your body heals wonderfully - with minimal noticable scarring.  That's so awesome.  I have not been that fortunate, but I'm happy to be free of the excess "baggage" (aka skin) anyway! :)

Now that being said, let me get this correct; your DH would rather you have All the extra skin "without" the scars, as opposed to the excess being removed, little to none visible scarring, and the added result of a "beautifully shaped body"???    Duhhhh....what am I missing here????

Dearest, please don't think that I'm implying anything, because I surely am not.  I just honestly don't get this one.  I've read a lot of things in regards to the feelings and emotions of DH's due to our wls, but this is absolutely a new one on me.

I pray that he will understand very soon, that this is a good thing for you, and that he needs to continue to SUPPORT you in every way!

God bless you and your situation.
Always,

Thanks, Rose, and no, I didn't think you were implying anything!

I seriously don't get it either - he's excited about the skin coming off, he's excited about my new (well, new for now... this is about where I was when we met back in 1976) size and shape, and he's excited about my ability to move and do things.  And it doesn't affect his interest in me, so I have the same question about what am I missing???  I mean, it's just the scars and they are great!

I was hoping someone here could point it out to me!  We'll see if anyone else has the magic insight into this weird response.

Granted I'm single and don't have to please anyone but myself, but it's your body, your scars and your hanging skin.  Your choice to get it removed.  I know most of my family was horrified that I was going to Monterrey Mexico and having all my PS done at once.  But, then again, they didn't have hanging skin and it wasn't their body.

I feel so much better now that my bewbies are smaller, up where they belong and perky!  My muffin top is gone and the hanging panni is history along with the batwings and fatty skin on my upper thighs.  It has really changed my perspective of my body.  Well worth my surgery!  I was 4 weeks out yesterday.  I really love my new body and face.
