I had saline put in years ago. They deflated after seven and eight years (one at seven years, and one at eight years). I had only gone up one size, so it was not really something that would be noticed visibly, but the docs should be more honest about the fact that deflation at seven to ten years or so is common. I guess silicone is probably prone to rupture or leak, thus the recommendation to have them replaced from time to time, but when I do mine again (very soon), I will get the gummy type and hope I don't have to replace them again since I'm 51 years old.
I had saline under the muscle. I think they feel fine. Being a nurse I would only do saline due to the safety concerns with silicone. I am aware that I will eventually need replacements but that is also so with silicone. I wanted to go the safest route.
It's a personal decision of what you want for yourself after discussing with your doctor.

I went with saline under the muscle and I have no regrets. One of my concerns was the fact that it's recommended that you have regular MRI's to make sure the silicone implants aren't leaking. I knew that wouldn't be something that my insurance company would routinely cover. MRI's can be expensive. My surgeon also told me that he wants to see his silicone implants replaced after a certain amount of time. I can't remember the timeline but he said the saline could stay in as long as they lasted and he had seen some that lasted upwards of 15 years.

Being a nurse and aware of the safety issues related to silicone implants, I chose saline implants. I also had mine placed under the muscle. My husband said if he didn't know I had had implants (just had them one month ago), he would swear I didn't as they feel totally real, normal. They feel totally normal to me too and I am very happy with my choice. Good luck with your decision!
