3 days out and miserable,

My theory is - woman deal with menstral cramps and childbirth....so we are all "armoured" against pain.  That makes us tolerate it a bit more.

That being said - day 2-3 was pretty painful.  I spent it mostly in a drug induced haze... lol.  Day 4 was drastically better - and by day 6 I was off pain meds.

Just be patient.  ;0)

A drug induced haze sounds about where I have been the last 2 days, But I think over the last couple of hrs I have felt a small difference in the amount of pain I have been experiencing. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was just rushing thru it. I know pain is going to be involved, but this was the most pain I have ever had my body endure. It's tough. I know it's not as bad as bearing children and I believe that women do have a higher threshold of pain, but I just needed to know what to expect.

I know it will get better, I was just wondering how you all delt with your pain and things I can do to lessen mine. Thanks again for all the support and the replies.

Everyone else is right....it'll get better bit by bit, day by day.

If you're not eating much you should try and make the things you do eat count as far as protien.  So if you you're eating yogurt, make it greek yogurt.  Have a protein shake for a snack, string cheese, some lunch meat, etc.  You need the protein to heal.

If you're pain is really bad, you might need a different pain medication.  We all metabolize them differently and some work better for some people and others for other people.  If it's unbearable on Monday, you might want to call your surgeon's office and ask about a different pain med.

As for how long it will be until you recover, well no one can say for sure.  I was restricted for 6 weeks and then set loose, but my job is pretty light duty.

Good luck and hang in there!

I took my pain meds (liquid loritab) relgiously.  I set an alarm throughout the night to remind myself to take them, which helped immensely in the morning.

Sorry you're in such pain.  Just be careful and take care of yourself and allow yourself to heal.  You won't be regretting it in a month or so.

How much time do you have off from work?  My daughter is a police officer and I know it would be very tough to go back to work doing the physical things you need to do.

I would recommend a minimum of 4 weeks.  THEN remember your stomach muscles are still VERY VERY tight...

Sorry to hear about the pain ! I was lucky, I was never in any real pain at all, but I didn't have any muscle work done. I was begging to eat the next morning - pancakes mmmmmm... Just concentrate on resting, I tried to get up once and hour and pace around the room. Once my drains came out things seemed to get better fast. I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I still have stiffness but I am going to the gym to walk and use elliptical. Good luck !!!

Yeah, I had muscle repair done and I got to say it hurts like a mother f****r! I'm 4 days out today and can barely feel the difference. There is a little less pain than there was yesterday. Hopefully at 5 weeks out I'll be able to do most of the thngs I was able to before, just the simple things. I really hope there is no more pain, i know to expect stiffness and some swelling. Thanks for the response.

Maybe your meds aren't cutting it for you- I know liquid lortab does nothing for me except make me nauseous. I had percocet pills and only needed them for 5 days.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Yeah, they do make me feel a little like that. I went with the liquid lortab because I had it for my WLS and it was like gold to me. How is your progress coming along, how far out are you and what things can you do at this point? Thanks for the reply.

I am three weeks out today and I can act pretty normal.. Still on lifting and exercise restriction obviously, but I can bend, reach, drive, sleep normal, etc. Today I was out for 13 hours straight and felt fine..
