Pain pump--yes or no
So, thoughts? Did you have one? Did you think it helped?
Thanks!

I did not have the pain pump and my pain level was not bad. I was able to move around okay. I even stopped my pain meds a couple of days after surgery. I was fine without it, so I tend to believe those surgeons who think it's a bit of a waste of money or that it has the placebo effect.
I had a pain pump for 5-days and I believe it helped me get up and move faster. I had extensive abd muscle wall repair and my general surgeon along with the PS said I would not have done as well without it.
If they are offering it, take girl. Also do not be afraid to take your pain meds. There is no reason for you to suffer at all. I wish you well.
I am 3 weeks out and I don't need any pain meds now but I did take them for the first 2 weeks pretty regularly and I am doing great.

It is the only thing not covered by my insurance. (how weird is that? they approved TT, breasts, and arms but denied the pain pump!)
I paid cash for it last week but I wouldn't dream of going without it.
I am not a fan of narcotics. So if this helps lessen the need for so much pain med, I'm on board.
And my 24 years of surgical nurse experience has taught me that anything that helps a post-op patient get up and moving is a good thing.
I have never heard a person say that it did not help.
I say go for it!!
