Muscle Spasms
When you say to the left of your belly button, is that upper left, lower left, or immediately left? Were you doing anything that brought the pain on? Is there anything you do that makes it worse or better? How long have you had this pain? Ever had it before? How much are you working out? How far postop TT are you? I ask all of these questions because it sounds like a couple of different things.
I had lots of them. My surgeon said they were perfectly normal. They lessoned as time went by, but I still get them every once in a while at 12 weeks out. I think you can ask your surgeon for muscle relaxers, if they're bothering you.

Thanks, I don't kow what could have brought them on, I have been extremely careful, no heavy lifting, no strenuous activity, I just woke up yesterday and my muscles around my belly button felt like they had "locked up" on me, giving me this tight burning sensation. Then woke up today and the tension was gone but now have constant muscle spasms. There is a muscle right behind and to the left of the belly button which is jerking every few seconds, even with my fingers pressing firmly against it, I can feel it jerking kind of hard.

When mine stared I panicked too...like OMG what did I do! I swore to my surgeon I didn't do any heavy lifting, or exercising. He laughed and promised it was all normal. I agree with Laura, the muscle relaxers help a ton. I am ten weeks out and still get them time to time. Take it easy. Five weeks is still early on!
I still get short(5 seconds) spasms every few months just to the right of my belly button. Both my PS & WLS have checked me out to make sure thats all they are. My tummy tuck was 6 years ago and when they started they would happen every few days but now once every 4 or 5 months is it. They may eventually stop or they may last for years, who knows. Since I know what they are I do not freak out when one hits anymore.
