5 days post-op from TT

The last time I posted on here was to let everyone know that my Dec. date had been postponed due to being anemic.   Well I diligently took my iron & all of my vitamins and my counts were good enough for me to have my TT on Saturday.  I am already amazed at the way it looks and it's pretty swollen.  Two of my good friends who had TT's (not due to weight loss) had kind of told me what to expect but I brushed them off a bit because I have a "high tolerance" to pain.  Okay, I am now calling BS on that LOL.  I was pretty drugged up Saturday so it wasn't terrible.  But Sunday & Monday were just awful...YIKES.  But I feel much better now, following all the doctors orders and have an amazing husband who is taking care of me, even giving me a shot everyday to prevent blood clots (I hadn't read about anyone else having to take shots). 

I'm totally thrilled and excited!  Although I don't post much, I do read the MB a lot and have learned from all of you.  Thanks for being a great support team!

Vicki, I'm on my 6 th day post op from extended TT. Feeling better each day. Thankful my husband sets everything out for me on the counter for the day as I'm only 5 '1" and can't reach much of anything. Anxious for time to pass so I can be up and around more. When can you shower? I have to wait until Monday.

My doctor said I could shower from the first day if I felt like it.  I waited until day 3 and am getting ready to take another one now, hubby said I have too.  I am just nervous to have the compression garment off for too long.

Congratulations Vicki.  I did the ten days of shots too.  My husband was great in giving them to me.

Well that makes me feel better.  I think they gave me 7 days of shots.  Hubby has to go back to work tomorrow (he works away from home) so I will have to give myself a couple...YIKES!

Thanks for the updates ladies. I'm learning new things every day for my surgery in June. I'm a single mom so no hubby to help. I'll keep needed items on the counter so I don't have to reach! Great idea!

Get a grabbie stick/gopher thingie too.  You'll be amazed at how many things end up on the floor and how very reluctant you are to try to bend over or squat down to get them!

Seriously, you are going to need someone with you for at least 3 days.  And to help take care of your kids if they are small.  The main thing is getting up and sitting back down.  Once you figure out to use your arms and legs and not your tummy muscles, it gets easier.  I think I'm pretty tough and that I would be okay by myself, but no way.  I'm lucky that hubby could get off work to stay with me but if he couldn't have, I would have asked a friend or another family member based on what others told me. 

Get excited though, you deserve it!  I'm beyond elated now that its over :).

My DD is 19 and will be the one stuck with taking care of me in the beginning.

My surgery is June 5th.I was told 1-2 nights in the hospital so that'll take care of the first couple of days. My house is tiny so getting to the bathroom from the couch isn't far!
