please help! armpit opened up after arm lift :(
Oh Jennifer I see you're just at two weeks, so maybe there isn't an alien trying to get out of you, like me, lol. I still wouldn't close them up with skin glue myself, because you could trap some bacteria inside of you that wasn't there before.
Once this happened to me I searched "arm opening" here and on realself.com to see what the protocol was. I saw one woman who had huge openings on her LBL, and the only time they do sew you back up is once they do something called debriefment (sp) where they numb you and clean out the holes of the tissue before closing you up. This seems to be the last resort as the other techniques (wet, dry, neo, esp) should work eventually.

haha alien? Just my luck :)
Yeah I never thought of that great point.... I will not be closing it I just figured maybe someone had some weird trick that would help it close/dry faster. I'm not too worried about it, more annoyed than anything really.
Basically there is nothing I can do to change it... it will close on its own or the doctor will do something to close it! Either way I'd do it all over again right now if I had too :)
Thank you for all the advise!
Yeah it's not really my incisions opening, so don't freak out. They are internal sutures that my body is rejecting. It starts with a small red(er) area and maybe a tiny bit of weeping. So I showed the dr, they suggested I do the wet to dry packing that will make the hole bigger initially, but it helps draw out the suture/and or bacteria surrounding it. Then it starts getting smaller and closes up. The bad part is that it can take 3-4 weeks (according to my doc), or like the poster above 4 months - oh my I hope not!!! I had my legs done at the same time and have zero issue with opening there, so I'm glad about that.
Jennifer - I would not put that skin glue on, as you want whatever wants out to come out, not get stuck in. Some drs do the wet to dry, some just say stay stick with the dry, and others say to put Neosporin on it, but no one suggests re-sewing it or blocking it again because there is something trying to get out.
I hope that helps you guys - good luck to all of us:)

Oh ok, I get what you mean. With mine I'm not sure. It does not hurt (no matter what really) that is a plus and it looks fine. No fever or anything its just more annoying than anything. Seems a lot dryer today. I am trying to just keep it clean and dry.
How are your legs doing other wise? So glad they are closed... I hear that can be crazy. I'm getting my inner thighs done next and it scares the crap out of me lol
Yes you all are right I will leave it alone, I'm just so impatient!
God luck and god bless!
Hi Michelle, does your thigh lift incision run under your pelvic area -- trying to describe this as best I can... mine runs alongside my outer labia/pubic mound to under my pelvic bone towards my arse and ends about the level of my rectum. Sorry to be gross, LOL. Then it also goes down my inner thigh to my knees
Hi
No. I had the vertical thigh lift where the incision runs from kind of under/inside my knee cap up to the top of my thigh. I had humungous legs where the meat actually hung down, Dr. Agha said only about a third of his wls patients need this surgery before or in conjunction with the one you describe. So on 11/06 when I have my LBL he's going to do more work on my thighs.
Yeah? I can't wait to see the final results. I'm already so happy with the lack of cellulite on them, just from stretching the skin vertically, and how much smaller they are in diameter. He's going to do some more lipo on them as well. I think the stomach brings the whole thing together - you must be thrilled to have it all (or mostly all;)behind you. Do you have any new pixs up? I should post some more - I really love my new boobs;)
Thanks to both of you for the quick response. I am no longer on the window ledge- LOL. I have one tiny spot on my right arm where there is a piece of a stitch that is starting to disolve and poke out a little. It is closer to my elbow than my armpit. My doc told me to tug on it a bit with a pair of tweezers and when it is ready it will just come right out. If I get some resistance, just let it be. It is just the size of the point of a pencil - perhaps not even that big. I am still wearing my compression garment 12 hours a day - wear it at night. But overall, I am healing well. Wishing the same for you ladies. JoAnn
